This other than it's capabitlities to clean is a very fragile product for this reason. Everytime you get something wrapped around the rollers it quits allowing the roller brush to turn. My repair guy says it is in the switch on the handle it causes some sort of short or something. Everytime it happens it costs me $45-50 to get it repaired the first time it was still under warrantee next time I'm just going to buy something with a better track record and a longer warrantee. I think Dyson has a five year warrantee.

If this is a Savvy, then it does have a cogged belt, and it will break when the brush roll is stalled.

Miele seb 213 quit spinning on rug

Hello, this is Ava with Think Crucial.

There are a number of reasons why your brush roller has stopped moving. General maintenance to your vacuum is crucial and will help it work at peak performance.

First things first let's focus on the brush roller. Unplug the vacuum and turn it on its side. Look for any noticeable clumps of debris or hair strands that may be caught in the brush roller. Remove these obstructions, probably best to do so with a scissor if it's hair or long pieces of carpet fibers. After removing the debris try manually rotating the brush roller to uncover other hidden clogs. Another thing to take note of is the condition of the bristles on the roll itself. Are they loose or worn down? These are signs that your brush roller is in need of replacing.

While checking out your brush roll you might as well take a look at your vacuums belt. Your belt should be replaced about every three months. After regular usage, the belt will stretch out, lessening the tension on the brush roller. Lesser tension diminishes the brush roller's turn rate and speed. If the belt feels loose then it certainly is affecting your vacuums suction as well as your brush roll not moving at all.

My sd40025 dirt devil ..it is not a upright. it is the follow along, bagless vacuum. has wonderful pick-up but the brush stopped spinning when i was vacumming my rug..i love this vacumm but it is only the...

That's because you got something caught in the brush and it tore the belt (likely) or slipped off the drive portion of the motor (unlikely).
If you look at the bottom where the brush is, there are a bunch of screws to remove the bottom cover usually and can access the belt and motor to run the brush. \
belts are usually 5 to 10.00 get a pack of 2 if possible and don't do heavy rugs or get material caught in the brush lest it will happen again.. typically you can find vacuums in the trash and remove their belts, usually is only 2 or 3 types of belts so get one for free perhaps from trash.

While using the power mate rug part I caught a small rug and the vacuum would no longer pick-up .

Check to see if there is a reset button on the head. This protects the machine for times like you described. When something jms up the reset button will turn ofdf th machine. Simply push the reset. Hope this helps, Chris

You will need to pull the roller out and clean it. I think some of the strings are tangle up at the end of this roller. (Most rollers will come apart at the end for cleaning.) Make sure that the strings are not tangle up on the belt pulley as well. I hope this will help you.

I was vacuuming over some fringe and then the brush just stopped working and there is nothing caught in it. It spins freely when twisted by hand, but will not turn when vacuum turned on.

have you checked the belt? it could have snapped when you caught the fringe. also if it has a separate brushroll motor there should be a reset that probably tripped out.

Belt squeels when the roller starts turning. only used about 10 times. Small belt under cover is very loose, but it shouldn't be worn out after only about 10 uses. does the small bell just rest on the belt...

Normally the belts should last longer than 10 uses, but if the roller brush catches something like a rug fringe it can cause the belt to slip off or even stretch to the point it won't turn the brush. In case you need a new belt here is a link and here is also a link to the manual. Hope it helps!

Is the Dyson pulling carpet fibers, not dirt ?

You need to shut the brush roll off. It is ruining your rugs, the dyson has a very aggressive roller and can hurt some types of rugs and carpets.
