Whirlpool side by side with water and icemaker. My water works perfectly fine but my ice maker no longer produces ice. It runs but it's not getting any water to make ice. What can be done to fix this?

There are a couple reasons your icemaker will not fill with water.
First thing you want to check for is a frozen fill tube to the icemaker. The easiest way to check for a frozen line is to remove the icemaker. Once the icemaker is removed look for ice in the fill tube. If there is ice in the tube the (water valve) will need to be replaced. You can melt the ice by forcing hot water up the fill tube.
Another reason could be the icemaker is not sending voltage to the water valve. The fix for this issue is to replace the icemaker. Hope this helps you with your whirlpool fridge!

The reason to change the water valve with a frozen water line is because the solenoid is not closing all the way. This allows water to enter the fill tube of the icemaker and freeze based on the temperature.

The water supply line was kinked for about a week. now the icemaker is not working. the water dispenser is. lines from valve to icemaker is not frozen, actually it is dry. what to look for?

It is normal if maintaining the proper temperature. Clean condenser coils and make sure there is good air circulation around the fridge, that will improve performance, and reduce running time

I have a Whirlpool refrige. side by side and the ice maker has stopped working. The infrared light keeps blinking. I have unplugged it a couple of times as well as turned the infrared off. Any advice?

The laser , is supposed to blink . This laser , tells the icemaker to stop making ice , when the bin is full . Pour about 2/3 cup of water into the icemaker . If it doesn't dump the cubes into the bin , the icemaker is bad . Or , if there is ice in the bin , which hasn't dumped , the icemaker is bad . If the icemaker dumps the ice ( from water pour ) , then look above the fill cup , and see if the black fill tube is frozen . If so , then replace the water valve and turn the freezer temp down slightly . It will take several days for this fill line inside freezer to thaw . If icemaker dumps , and black tube NOT frozen , replace the water valve . The valve , is where the wall water line connects to on the refrig

My ice maker has quit working. The water is not filling the tray.

Pour 1/2 cup of water into icemaker . If it dumps the cubes when frozen , then check the fill tube going into the icemaker , to see if it is frozen solid . If it is , remove and clean and replace water valve ( drip seeping ) . If not frozen , replace the wqter valve anyway . If the icemaker doesn't dump the cubes , and holds the frozen ice , replace the icemaker , after making sure the coils under fridge are free of dust , lint , pet hair etc.The icemaker needs to be 5 degrees to operate , and , dirty coils could bring the temp up to 6 or higher in the freezer section .

Frozen water tube that goes into the icemaker

Try using an hairdryer or defrosting the unit completely , this often get rid of blockage caused by frozen lines fixing the problem.

The water lines can also be unblocked from dirt using a thin flexible shaft. This after defrosting.

If all that does not fix the problem, then you may need to replace the water valve, the icemaker solenoid, or the whole icemaker assembly.
