I just got a used Sanyo TV, its 24inch and is silverish, an older model. The picture and everything is great, except when I turn up the sound it starts crackling and hissing. This only happens when I turn the volume up, if I put the TV on mute or on Video it doesn't make any noise. You can still hear some audio, but it is very unclear.
My question is, is this fixable and if so how much would it cost? The TV is only worth about $50 so would it be worth to fix?

I had ot go online to buy a remote control to use with my zenith concierge tv. It is the same model # as yours. I ended up paying almost 40 dollars for a remote made by lg who I believe bought out zenith. I believe you could problably just get a universal remote and get the same thing accomplished. I can do everything with the remote I ordered except the one thing I wanted it for and that is to turn up the volume. It says on the menu, custom, not preset, but it still will only go up halfway no matter what I do. I heard that you could program the tv to factory settings but I tried that with another remote and all it did was reprogram the remote so that it didn't work anymore. If you have any suggestions as to how I can get the volume to work on my tv, I would appreciate it as well
Depending on the model number, there are a number of things that could be wrong. Even within a given model number there are a number of possibilities. I have seen everything from rectifiers to horizontal outputs to bad electrolytic capacitors to bad solder connections kill these things. If you are skilled and experienced these are a few things to check. If you do not have repair experience then please stop, put the back on it and get it to a repair facility. I rarely have estimates declined on these because you can not replace it for less than most repairs will cost.
our year old tv plays wonderful then it will turn green an the after a while it will go back to normal .we were told that some stores put a chip in it so that after about a yr it will do that.the picture is great but then the screen turns green, what can we do to fix that?
take the back off the tv and where the power cord hooks into the tv check the fuse there on the board if this isnt blown then you are probably looking at a power supply problem look at the board for anything that looks black and burnt or dark brown spots on the board. this will tell you where the problem is if it has any. but it just might be the fuse.
That works great except I can get the tuner to program any channels above channel47. Is this a limitation of this older model TV
yes there is limitation in old tv.
is there some setting I can change in order to get more channels using the tv tuner?
in INDIA what we do is put a remote control ckt which gives us about 250 channels.
of course we replace tuner also called hyper tuner along with remote ckt or replace whole kit which are cheaply available.& serves the purpose.
hope this will help
I think you have a bad connection in the tuner.
The tuner is what decides what channel you get.
It's a small box inside your tv about the size of a pack of cigarettes. These have been known to develop loose connections or just go bad.
Some are pretty expensive depending on the type set you have.
Since your set is older and you want it fixed you'd better get an estimae first.
