There is a difference between puting a computer to sleep and switch it off. When asleep, (mostely used on laptop) everything stays in RAM and the computer is feeding the RAM, so everything stays correct to be used immediately. When you switch off the computer, in Windows, goto the logo in the left corner, click (left button of the mouse) and chose shut down. On the MAC there are more options, but I give one:
Go to the little apple on the left corner of the screen, left mouse click and in the mene chose Shut Down...
I hope this will be of any help.

HP DC7800 doesn't wake up (and power switch does nothing!)

Bad setting. If you press and hold the power button, the computer will shut off. That will keep you from having to unplug it.

My computer i in sleep mode

Sounds like it is locked up. There should be a power switch on the back. Switch it off, leave it off for a few minutes, then turn the back power switch on again and push the front power switch. If no rear switch, pull the plug. Windows doesn't like hard power downs, but if your system won't recognize the keystrokes or mouse movement, tere is nothing else you can do.

My iphone is stick in conncecting to itunes

try disconnecting the phone from the computer. then do a "hard reset" by pressing the slim button on top (the sleep/wake button) and the round button on the front bottom (home button) until the apple logo appears and then the phone turns off. Turn it on again by pressing the sleep/wake button. Try connecting to itunes again, if it doesn't work check for itunes updates or delete then reinstall itunes (your library will remain intact).

My iphone 4 will not turn on even after charging

You can try a hard restart, which is holding down the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons for around 15 seconds until the Apple logo shows up. If that doesn't work you might have to restore your iPhone. If you want to restore your iPhone, you have to connect it to your computer. Hold down the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons at the same time for about 10 seconds. Then after 10 seconds release ONLY the Sleep/Wake button. Your computer should say that your iPhone is now in recovery mode and you can now restore it via iTunes.

I got my acer and the power light comes on but the screen is black

This happens with my Acer Laptop too. Make sure the computer is plugged in to a power source and try a forced restart. If that doesn't work, try using the sleep command to but the computer to sleep while the screen is black but the power is on. The computer's power light should shut down, and you should be able to go out of sleep mode by pressing spacebar.

CRT Monitor-Compaq presario VM700

Hi Snandy, I absolutely despise monitor and computer sleep or hibernation modes. Before I started routinely disabling this on all the computers I supported my users were always having problems no matter how computer literate they were. I know this sounds simplistic and you may have already done it but have you just unplugged the monitor? If that doesn?t work maybe the PC itself has gone to sleep as well. Try moving the mouse, hitting a keyboard key. If that doesn?t work try pushing the power button on the computer to turn it on. If all else fails pull the power plug on the computer itself, plug back in and it should start up. I would suggest disabling all of this via Windows Power settings in the control panel. Let us know if you have any other questions and again please don?t forget to rate the post.
