Question about Thomson RP5600 Clock Radio

LCD light broke after one day

I bought this clock yesterday. When first used it, it worked perfectly. I had to move it to a different room, and when I plugged it in the LCD light was off, and there is no on/off switch to it. Is there anything I can do before I exchange it?

Re: LCD light broke after one day

Probably something came loose inside. Most likely the wire that powers the lcd came loose. It's possible it shorted out too. Personally I'd return it and not take it apart. If you can't fix it you'll void the warranty and the store might not return it if they see it's be disassembled. You're better off exchanging it since it's already had an issue after one day. It may be an indication of the workmanship of that unit in regards to it's longevity. I hope this has explained your question in detail. If I've helped you please don't forget to rate me. Peter

Display not bright enough on Bose AWR1-1W clock radio

Yes...within a range. The display will automatically lighten and darken depending on the amount of light in the room. During the day or when there are bright lights in the room, the display will go to full brightness. When the lights go off or the room is otherwise darkened, the display will shift down to a lower brightness. You can make the "lower brightness" a bit brighter by holding down the CLOCK SET button and pressing the 'volume up' button.

The atomic clock on my Sangean RCR-2 has not set after 2 days.

I think the white cord is the fm antenna. The gray one with the thick end is the am antenna. The frequency used to contact the atomic clock signal uses the am antenna.

LCD light for time/date

This is a problem with intermittent display contacts. This problem occur because of heat and vibration during operation. The connection are solder to the connectors. The solder joints that make the connections expand during heating and eventually lose contact with the connection points. When you tap on the display you move the connection back into contact. This will eventually fail to happen as the connection get worse. The Clock/Radio's display needs to have the contact points resoldered. This is a service usually performed by a service center. The Emerson customer support Telephone number is 1-800-909-1240 you can call them between the hours of 8am-4:30pm CT. Give them the make and model number of your Clock/Radio. Tell about the problem you are having with the intermittent display. They should be able to tell you how you can get the Clock/Radio repaired. I hope this information helps you with your problem. Thank you for using FixYa and have a nice day.

Want to change LCD brightness on Clock Radio

you could try to internally change the brightness, but unless you know a lot about circuits, I wouldn't mess with the internal wiring.

This problem is cause by the difference in the power delivery system in the USA(60HZ) and India (50HZ). The timing function for these type of Clock/Radios depends on the power delivery system. It works like a second hand in a clock or watch. With the (60HZ) you get the perfect match with the 60 seconds to a minute time intervals. In India this timing sequence is thrown off due to the power being only (50HZ). I will give you the information to contact the Emerson customer support web page and the customer support telephone number. They may have a way to make adjustment internally to compensate for the differences. The web page for customer support is[] The telephone number is 1-800-909-1240. No sound

other than just double checking your switches settings there really isn't much you can do ,as there really isn't any easy to replace parts inside and that would be cost prohibitive anyhow , but do remember it is a clock radio , if its set t o use the alarm the radio will not work and not the cd either , ck all your switches for proper setting , one may have got bumped by you or cleaning staff
this is the reason I use a sound bar/phone dock as I use it to charge my phone and play music all day at my desk , they only cost about fifteen bucks to buy , and best thing is there's nothing for anyone to mess with when im not there as it wont work without my phone docked in it !!
