If you want to secure the router itself you have to launch your web browser. Type in the router's ip address on the address bar. Admin is the default username and leave the password field blank. Click on the Tools tab then make sure that Admin is highlighted to the top left corner of the page. Then change your administrative username and password on that page and click apply.

Click on the Home tab then click on wireless to the right of the page. Make up something for your ssid. Select enabled for wep. Then delete the all zeros on key 1 and make up something for your password. Make sure that your password is 10 digits and you can only use numbers from 0-9 and letters from a-f. then click apply.
