200 durango starts but wont idel

Could be the pump. Do you have the pressure at the fuel rail? If you have pressure and spark, then the noise you heard was probably lifter tap. No oil or over heated.

Check your inline fuel filter, And your fuel rely could be going out. good luck to ya.

Chris, at least you know it is fuel related. Check your fuel fuse and relay. Check the fuel filter and make sure it is not clogged. Check all your fuel lines to see if one is pinched. I would suggest starting with the less expensive solutions first. If you pull the air intake hose off the throttle body and open the throttle with the engine off look down inside if it is black try spraying it out with throttle body cleaner make sure to spray it out good. Afterwards start it you may have to keep your foot on the gas for a few minutes to make sure it doesn't stall then take your foot off the gas pedal and see if it stays running if it does your throttle body just needed cleaned. Note do not use carb cleaner use throttle body cleaner only, carb cleaner can damage the sensor in your throttle body.

Check the exhaust compression. Remove the O2 sensors before the cataylic converts and see if it improves. If it does that means your cats are cloged and need to be replaced.

the IAC motor is probably sticking...it controls the idle. Try pulling it off and cleaning it out...or just replace it

fuel pump is getting ready to shut down replace it.
