Question about Dell Axim X51v Pocket PC

2 Answers

Axim V51x My battery drained all the way down, and now the internal battery won't charge (reads 0%). Now, every time I swap batteries, the date and time revert to July of 2005 at 12:00. Do I need to change the internal battery, and if so, how do I do it?

Re: Axim V51x

You can get a replacement backup battery right here at Essentially like you said you've totally drained the backup battery, and it now has to be replaced. The repair involved no soldering, so it's not terrible difficult, but you do have to completely disassemble the unit to replace the internal backup battery. You'll need a good set of screw drivers and torx bits to take it apart fully. Also pdasmart has a repair service they offer. For $25 they will repair the pda for you. For an extra $5 and a couple extra days shipping time that would be hands down your best bet if you aren't technically skilled in electronics hardware. I hope this has explained your question in detail. If I've helped you please don't forget to rate me. Peter

How to change the internal battery on an axim x51v

I assume you're losing Time, Date and backlight settings? It's soldered to the circuit board on the x51 series, not a plug in like the x50's. In the x51's, it's not actually a battery, but a part called a supercap. That's a very big capacitor that wolds a lot of charge, technical stuff. Not for the novice solderer, the part's small and the board & other components are very heat sensitive. Check HTCGeeks or Mobilitysite for (too) many details about this repair. EASY WAY OUT: Some dude came up with an awesome little program you install to fake it out. You set it for how long it takes you to change your main battery and then run it any time you need to change it. It automatically records the start time and resets the clock to that plus x-number of minutes it takes you to swap batteries!!!! Waaay cool and a lot simpler than opening it up if that's not your bag!!! You can find it on either of the sites I mentioned above.

When charging my axim X30 on the cradle, the on-off light is blinking from green light to amber consistantly... when I remove the device from cradle the device does not turn on at all.. I have replaced the...

It sounds to me that your "original" battery, the one that causes the blinking when charging is completly drained dead, causing it to show an error by blinking the light.
I have one of these PDA's and have never had that problem, I also have a larger battery as well, and it works great. I suggest recycling the other battery, and possibly purchasing another larger one for back up,
Good luck!

Power button flashing

Clean the battery connectors on both sides, so on your Axim and on your battery.
Also try to push the battery against the connectors, maybe put a sheet of paper between it or so.

Backup battery on Dell Axim X5 varies on charge left, even after complete charge. One minute it's 100%, then 0%, then 100% again within a few minutes

Install Active Sync latest version off of the Microsoft site. Turn off automatic SYNC ..... change it to manual sync.

Then check the connections on the watch battery----- you may need to add a piece of tape to the battery lid to get a tight connection. Carefully bend out the tab that contacts the battery. Wipe the battery off with a clean rag before installing.

Dell axim x5 back-up battery

It is a knows issue for the backup battery not to take charge once they reache 0%. The backup battery is a pretty crappy NiCD cell. As the job it is supposed to do is pretty important I recomand to have it changed. For most PDA's this is a standard 3V battery. You should have your pda dissasembled and either have the battery manually charged (to see if the PDA can handle it later) or simply have it changed. This shouldn't be an expensive repair. For more info, feel free to reply. Good luck.

USB Sync Cable

I dont' think so. No other PDA does - it would be quite a drain on the USB port. It isn't like powering the tiny LED in an optical mouse.
