Which ever Messenger
or Skype you are using has to be setup in order to function. What
Messenger are you using? I'll assume that you are using YAHOO MESSENGER
and I'll walk you through the setup. All Messengers and Skype have an
Audio & Video setup in them so the camera and microphone work properly with
their program.
Bring up Yahoo Messenger and on the top left click on MESSENGER.
Then click on "Messenger Preferences."
Next in Category click on "Calling & Devices."
When that comes up check and check to see that Microphone is set to your audio
card.
Next insure that the speakers are set to you audio card.
Then go to "Test Audio "In the Blue print, "Open the call setup
Assistant" When the window opens follow the instructions. When
finished your camera audio should function properly.
Also you need to go to the Video setup and do the same so it will broadcast the
pictures.
You probably already know how to setup Messenger's but if you don't, hope this
helps. Bud
I had a MYRIAD of problems when I first got mine. I took it back after spending ENDLESS HOURS trying to tweak it.
It was the device itself; I traded it for another (same model; same everything). The first one was just a lemon. The second one has worked like a champ.
If want the driver, check http://www.microsoft.com/hardware/digitalcommunication/downloads/default.mspx 1) Select type of product - Webcam 2) Select your product - LifeCam VX-1000 3) Select your operating system 4) Select your operating system language 5) Click Go From next page click on link to download required drivers.
My Lifecam vx- 1000 wasn't working on Yahoo messenger initially. After hours of researching i came across the solution that worked for me.
In "properties" limit the USB
bandwidth used - by unchecking "Auto" in configuration and decreasing
the speed manually (bring it down from 6mbps to 3).
