Electrolux dishwasher overflows

Two things to consider....clean water or dirty water?

Clean water usually indicates the fill valve is not shutting off all the way and the fill valve is "weeping" water in all the time = new fill valve time!!

Dirty water usually is not a dishwasher problem but more of a plumbing issue. Often the sink drain that carries the sinks water outside is not fast enough and some of this sink water is backing up into the drain hose and filling up the dishwasher through the drain hose. The drain from the sink to outside needs attention as this type of a problem indicates a slow house drain for that sink.

The dishwasher drain line should be clamped to the top underneath part of the counter before entering the sink drain plumbing, this may help the water from coming back inside the dishwasher.

Dishwasher doesn't drain properly

Hello,

Following a cycle, a small pool of clean water inside the tub is normal. An excessive amount of water means the pump isn't pumping water out properly, the drain hose isn't carrying it to the drain pipe, or the house's drain lines are backed up.

If dirty water spews from the air gap, the drain line is kinked or clogged. (If you've recently installed a garbage disposer, be sure the knockout plug for the dishwasher was removed when the connection was made; see your disposer instructions.)
1) Remove the cover from the air gap at the top of the sink (usually a short chrome domed cylinder that sits at the back of the sink), and, using a stiff wire, clean it out. Also check the entire length of the drain hose for kinks or blockages, especially at the drain connection to the disposer or drain line.2) Once the dishwasher is cool, shut off the power to it, and-if your dishwasher is made to allow this-remove the strainer, located under the bottom spray arm at the base of the cabinet (see illustration). dishwasher_er1.gifUnscrew the hubcap, lift the spray arm off, and remove any clips that hold the strainer to get it out. Scrub it clean with a brush, then replace it.
3) Determine whether the sink trap or house drain line is clogged.
4) If the dishwasher still doesn't drain properly, the drain hose may be clogged or the drain valve may need replacement. You can check the drain hose for obstructions, but this sometimes involves pulling the dishwasher out from under your counter to access the hose, disconnecting the hose at both ends, and flushing it out with a faucet or garden hose or replacing it with a new hose.

Thanks for using fixya.

Wont drain water \

Several problems could cause this; 1. kinked or clogged drain hose. 2. Food or foreign object(such as bone is blocking the drain housing). 3. Defective pump. 4. Defective drain valves on some models. 5. Hose was installed on a new disposal and the drain connecting plug was not removed from the disposal before the hose was installed? 6. Some models use reversible motors in which the motor spun the pump Clock-Wise to wash and would stop and restart Counter-Clock-Wise to drain. But I think yours uses a drain valve, which could be clogged or defective. 7. Outside chance but a timer(control) could be defective. More that likely it is a clog or blockage.

Sandy grit left on dishes.

I was having a different issue with the same model but I think my issues solution might help yours. My dishwasher was not draining properly. It was the air gap that sits on top of the counter by the sink. It was clogged. We removed it and cleaned it out. Maybe if your air gap is slightly clogged as well it is not allowing the dirty water to flow out properly leaving you with gritty dishes. Hope this helps.

GE Profile Dishwasher (5 years old); Leaving residue on dishes

In my case the counter mounted breather for the drain tube was being restricted ... finally to the point it would not drain the tub at all. I disassembled the above counter drain assembly and cleaned it out as it wass completely blocked and things work very well again. I would suggest this foirst as it is an easy task and is done 'above the counter'.
I then ran 2 cups of CLR with wash cycle ... no dishes to clean out the rest of the washer as on dissaembly of the internals to diagnose they were and very scummed up with a hard white crusty substance that was completely blocking some of the drain sump performations.

Kenmore Ultra Wash III Dishwasher will not drain properly

From the sound of things, your dishwasher drains faster than your sink drain ( via the garbage disposal) can drain it off.. You may have a problem with the way your sink drain/trap is vented and there is too much back pressure to drain down quickly.. When you run water from your sink, does it take a long time to drain down or if you fill your sink up and drain it, does it drain slowly ? That may be your problem.. Hope that helps.

Intake drain light flashing

1. Unscrew air gap which is on the counter-top next to sink.
2. Unscrew drain clamp under the sink which s connected to the air gap.
3. Use a wire hanger to push down debris clogging the drain.
4. Screw clamp and air gap back in place.
5. The dishwasher should work. Routinely clean out air gap every half year.
