Question about HP Color LaserJet 2600n Printer

Red is printing pink.

All three color cartridges show half full or better. Black is 1/4 full. Restarted and restored factory settings. Large red area has good coverage but almost pink, it is still printing light.

Red ink is printing pink, it is a new clean cartridge. I cannot work out how to do a nozzle clean, I think it should be simple but when I search around in properties & preferences I cannot find a service tab.

Please help, red is very important to us.

Have u used this printer quite a bit....? if so the following may be the problem and I just did run across this recently in a printer we had in the shop....I recently read in one of my technical magazines that there may be a design flaw in the placement of the laser scanners and the openings that protect seems that excess toner dust can readily get in to scanner area and specifically inside the scanner assembly and accumalate on the scanner glass and lens. Just cleaning through the opening in the back of the printer will not eliminate the issue. Machine will have to be disassembled, scanner removed and opened and the glass/lens cleaned with a q-tip....the placement of the fan (behind cartridges, lower right) seems to speed this process up and it usually becomes first notable with the magenta cartridge, seeing as it is at the bottom of the printer closest to the fan. Hope this helps..

But your problem could be with the half empty cartrigde. All printers use a particlura kind of color ink mixing technique, that requre all color ink amount to be at a certain level. If one ink in the cobination is too low, then you will not get the right color. Try a new cartridge.

Welcome to FixYa!
Solution 1. You might want to check the ink levels of your printer. One of the ink color might be out. Your printer uses the C,M,Y (one cartridge) and K (another cartridge). The printer mixes this colors (C,M,Y,K = cyan, magenta, yellow and pink) to produce the right colors including black.
Solution 2. Please do a printer head cleaning. You can do it using your printers software maintenance option.
Thank you for using FixYa.Have a great day.

Ink levels show emptry.

Need one plastic plate that you don't care much about, or a plastic disposable plate.
Tear off one section from a paper towel roll and roll it up into about a 1-inch diameter roll.
Flatten the roll
Soak the flattened roll in warm water
Lay the flattened roll down on the plate
Place the nozzle area of the ink cartridge directly against the wet paper towel
Fold the flattened roll as needed to support the ink cartridge so it stands upright.

The trick here is to make sure the cartridge is supported upright so the nozzles come in full contact with the wet towel surface.
The wet towel acts as a wick to soften and draw out the ink.
After awhile, you shoudl see a kaleidoscope of colors on the paper towel. This indicates the nozzles have been opened up and the ink is flowing. Try to print and see what happens.
Repeat as needed.

Problem with printing black and white photos

Probably what happen is that you are printing black and white but you have your printer on color mode, try to set the printer to grayscale or black and white before print. The printer is tring to get the black and white by mixing all three color, that is the most comon way of make black, so, when one of the color is missing you see those red lines.
Also you will solve the problem replacing the color cartridge.

Print head is mising

1. GENTLY INJECT RED FLUID: Remove the CAP assembly (If not already removed). Place a paper towel in the
cavity where the cap was. Position the printhead over the towel. Remove any ink cartridges. Using a syringe with
tubing, gently Inject red cleaning fluid into each color and black nozzle set. (NOTE: If fluid can not be injected,
install and puddle cap with fluid and let soak for 30 minutes. Retry step 1.)
2. REPLACE THE CAP and RE-INSTALL THE OLD INK CARTRIDGES: Move the CR assembly to the left and
remove the paper towel, dab the area dry with a clean towel. Replace the CAP assembly and reconnect tubes.
3. PUDDLE THE CAP: Fill the cap with red fluid. That is, “puddle” the cap using the syringe.
4. SOAK OVERNIGHT: The printer is now ready to soak. The cartridges in place will keep the fluid in the head, and
the red fluid in the cap will loosen any remaining residual ink.
Leave undisturbed overnight
5. REMOVE THE CAP AND CLEAN: (Yes.. take out the cap and clean it again, just like Part A)
6. GENTLY INJECT CLEAR FLUID: Place a paper towel in the cavity where the cap was. Position the printhead over
the towel. Remove any ink cartridges. Using a syringe with tubing, gently Inject one full syringe of clear cleaning fluid
into each color and black nozzle set (flushing out the red fluid).
7. REINSTALL CAP: Put the CAP assembly back in.
8. WITH POWER ON, INSTALL NEW CARTRIDGES: Place new ink cartridges in the printer using the correct install
9. PERFORM CLEANING CYCLES UNITL FRESH INK IS IN THE CAP: It usually takes two to three cleaning cycles until
the cap is “ banded” with color from the ink.

It will not print.

Hi Greenhorn, Your info is slightly conflicting - I think. As I remember the C60 has just 2 LED's: 1 - Green for Power 2 - Red for Error The third button - Cartridge exchange - has no LED Now it is a while since I looked at a C60 and my brain leaks like a sieve, but that's the way I remember it and feel free to correct me if I'm wrong. The error codes I remember are: Printer status - Indicators - Priority Power - Error Power ON condition On - Ink sequence Blink - Ink Cartridge change mode Blink - Data processing Blink - Paper Out *1 - On Paper jam condition *1 - On Ink end (Black) *1 - On -> Blink Ink level low (Black) - Blink-> Blink Ink end (Color) *1 - On -> Blink2 Ink level low (Color) - Blink-> Blink2 Ink end (Black and Color) - On -> On No Ink Cartridge (Black or Color) *1 - On Maintenance request (Ink Overflow Countererror) *1 Alt Blink Alt Blink Fatal error *1 Off On Special setting Blink2 Blink2
