Question about Acer AL1913 19" LCD Monitor

1 Answer

Monitor has a bad sector

My monitor has a 4 inch wide band of solid black running vertically just to the left of center on the screen. It used to look like water was running down over the screen over that 4 inch band but now it is just solid black. First I tried changing all the video drivers. Then I tried it on another computer. It is definitely the monitor and not the software of the computer. Any suggestions?

Sorry to say that it is a permanent damage of your monitor screen. Usually you can do nothing. But if you want to change the monitor screen, you have to visit a monitor & television specialist.
Cost will be 1/4 of a new monitor.

I have a 2inch wide band down middle of screen on

1) Have you installed new drivers or software or drivers? If so, remove them and restart the computer.
2) Try applying pressure with your fingers on top of the screen. If the band dissapears or dimishes, you may have a broken screen and it will need to be replaced.

Screen has a vertical black band on right hand side

You might have a centering control among the options of your monitor. Look up the manual, or just play with the buttons until you find it.

There is a 4 inch wide back vertical strup down the diplay screen

It is probably be a faulty LCD crystal, or a bad internal connection where the electronics meet the LCD. I would think it could happen if the monitor is jarred or dropped, I guess it could occur also if the monitor was brought in from the cold weather and condensation occurred inside?

Unless you have access to a trained LCD technician, your only option is return the monitor for exchange or repair, or buy a new one.
