NINtendo Wii sound but no video

Hello, I have sound on my Wii but no video. Worked great until I moved it from my small LCD to larger TV. Also the end of my video connection looks like smoky plastic and not metal like all of the others. Is this right?

It wasn't my tv settings the video cable had actually been fried. I don't know how or why but it had been. I got a new cable and it works fine now. Does anybody know why my cable may have goten fried? I don't want it to happen again if I can help it.

Blue screen, little static and great sound

I can not be sure but it sounds like maybe a wire got pulled. Is that possible? Maybe the cable is either damaged or it is partly out of the jack. Check both ends, at the TV and the console.

I just moved my wii from a HD tv to a standard tv. Changed all the settings...and the wii is now working but there is no color.

Hello :

Check this solution please : fathitkf solution for not turning on Nintendo Wii problem .

The problem that there is no color can be related to a problem when you move your Wii from TV to another . The above solution can solve the problem for sure .

Bought a Wii and using the standard cables it played great on a new 50' Panasonic Plasma as well as on our 2 year old 32' VIZIO LCD. Just upgraded to a 46' Sony LCD (W series) and the Wii looks terrible...

The Wii can display on a HDTV, but keep in mind the output is only 480p. It is not true high definition, and it will only display this using a component video cable. There shouldn't be a difference with LCD and plasma.

You will also need to go to the display settings to force the Wii to display in 480p.

Try a different input (safe to assume your Sony has multiple?) and see if it is that specific input. Also, try a different device like a DVD player or VCR and see if you get the same result.

Good luck.

Wii turned on, but no video output

Just spoke to Nintendo Technical support. Seems the rub is in the AC adapter itself.
Need to power down at both ends of the AC adapter--unplug AC adapter from wall output AS WELL AS from back of Wii.
Wait at least two minutes to allow any charge in the adapter itself to dissapate. Plug adapter into wall first, then back into the Wii, making sure your peripherals (eg AV receiver, TV, projector if using) are already on.
Tech support says sometimes you get a partially tripped "fuse" within the AC adapter itself.
This seems to have worked for now--will let the forum know if further problems

Video inputs

I had the same problem until I switched my player-to-TV connection from S-Video to Composite.  Then it worked just fine.  Now I have player-to-TV as Composite, and Wii-to-player as Composite connected to Aux1.
