Question about Intel SYNTAX S651M SIS651 mATX (SYNTAX S651M SIS651) Motherboard

1 Answer

Still have media card problems

For whatever reason my card readers, installed on the front of the computer, are not being recognized. My motherboard is a Syntax S651M, and I understand that port 1394 on the back is being shared with the card readers so I did not plug anything into this port. the card readers have always worked until recently. Also, no new devices have been installed since the problem started. the drive letters used to appear under My computer, ie E, D F and now they don't. Does anyone have any suggestions for a fix. thanks Frank

Re: Still have media card problems

1.) run "system restore" to an earlier date when you know it worked. or... 2.) re-install windows xp (or anything from ME on up)

If the card is completely unrecognisable and you can't format it then the memory chip inside the card has failed. This is unfixable, the card is dead and the photos are lost. Time for a new card.

Is It required to connect Tower Front Panel I/O to Motherboard

The power button on the front panel would definitely need to be hooked up to the motherboard so you can power up the computer.

If you have any usb slots or a media card reader on the front panel, or both, then you would need to hook those up as well, otherwise the main one you need to connect would be the power button.

I do not get sound

maybe you need a driver for that, because once you put a new pci hardware in your computer it may need a driver to recognize the computer what hardware was inserted. hope that helps!

Media Card Readers

yess use the ports in the back of the computer I had the same problem with my mouse before which was also usb port connection. The reason why I say to hook it up to the back usb ports is that it is built onto the motherboard and therefore it would get recognized alot quicker if you put it there if you find that whatever you have hooked up dont have alot of usb ports buy yourself a usb hub i bought one for 2.00 it does the trick when you are limited to usb connections
