Question about Kenmore 50522 / 50524 Side by Side Refrigerator
I recently transported this side by side kenmore fidge that was working fine before the move to my garage. I transported it on its side. When i went to plug it in it ran for a 1 1/2 days and did not get cold. I looked at the back and the compressor fan is running and it sounds like the fridge and freezer fans are working. I vaccuumed all the dust underneath and behind. Can you tell me what might be wrong. Could have transporting it on its side damage it? I am pretty handy so I could do the repair on my own. Thanks Ken
Transporting fridge items on the side mixes up the oil and the gas together, inside the compressor bottle at the back, this should never be mixed, when you move fridge appliances you should always stand appliance where it is going to be for 24 hours before switching back on to allow the gas and oil to settle and separate back apart again. many engineers may tell you this does not matter and you can lay items down etc, this is absolute bull and must not be done as for allowing it to stand 24 hours, the opinion is mixed, but common sense tell you, if you move something, let it settle afterwards, and the longer you give it to do so the better OBVIOUSLY sorry there is no diy repair
