Problem for Canon CanoScan D660U Flatbed Scanner

CanoScan 5000F - Scanner bar is stuck

I really have a Canoscan 500F, but that was not an option on the product list.

Suddenly (after we moved) my scanner makes a noise when I turn it on. The light comes on but the scanner bar doesn't move.

I read on another post to try oiling the scanner bar. How exactly would I do that?

Any help is MUCH appreciated!

- Hey there. I have the exact same problem - my scanner work great and after I moved to a new apartment my scanner is stuck. The light is on but the bar won't work. So what the solution?- Boing1

Unlock it. I think the switch is on the bottom.

hi all;
i fixed it by taking the thing apart, pushing the scanner head (the block that is stuck-- that normally moves) back to the starting position. Make sure its snug at the end, a little bit off and you'll be putting it have to take it apart and back together a second time. There's a mirco swtich in there somewhere, and you need to make sure its pressed...
reconstruct, and hey presto, a working scanner! this also worked for my epson 1250 that got stuck once.
Easy as a section of gateaux.
