Restored system Aspire 3618AWLCI NO LONGER HAVE ACER GRID

- recently did a system recovery (lost recovery disk) did the recovery within the allowed recovery option my Acer Aspire 3618AWLCi laptop built-in permitted, because of haunting pop-up that was controling my laptop capabilities.(eg. laptop would, among other things reboot by itself)
The recovery was a sucess as far as the pop-up was concerned, but in the process the Acer-grid funcion was eliminated.(the one that divides the screen) I am not overly computer literate.
When I go to the start menu and click Acer grid to open the program a pop-up comes up saying Acer grid (paraphrase) only functions in Windows XP 2000 or later versions
Well ddduuuhhhh, Acer Grid came factory installed with the laptop, and to further making feel like an idiot XP is also factory installed,no fault of mine? I really loved the split screen funtion, what happened and why
