My top load Maytag Legacy series is not blending hot and cold water correctly. I have already replace the temperature control device to fix a different problem. The COLD only works fine. On COOL or WARM, the stream alternates between cold and hot instead of blending into a nice stream of cool or warm. The clothes inside are getting scalded with HOT, even if the tub ends up full of warm or cool water. The HOT only also pulses between HOT And WARM. Is this a lousy design, or is there something wrong with a valve or controller?

Chief Walley, you have a temperature control board that sits right behind the timer. A thermistor senses the water and sends the info to this board. The thermistor sits at the water injector. The board may be your problem, I have seen many like this. Keep in mind that the target temp for cold is 75 degrees. If your incomming water is higher than this, you are going to get a warm fill, which they think is cold. Without being there, I would go after the board. Catriver...post back.

Change the water valve again ,you most likely got a bad one.The odds of there being no cold water after a new valve is almost impossible. You can test the valve to make sure its working before you go to buy another one.

It sounds like you have the hot and cold water lines to the washer reversed. Try turning off the tap for the hot water then setting the washer to just cold wash and then hot washif you get nothing on the cold and cold water when set to hot they are probably reversed. Typically if the auto-temp control is broken you will only get hot or cold coming out on any setting.
