Black screen on tv

I was watching the tv, heard a loud "pop" and the screen went black with no sound. Could it be a bad module ?

    Same problem, watching TV, loud pop, no picture or sound.

    Tried unplugging for 3 minutes, no good.

    Waiting for Vizio tech support to return E-mail.

    Any luck replacing the X,Y, and Z boards?

    Loud pop! Same thing. Have it 2 1/2 years. Called Vizio and asked about parts. They said:

    Had the pop, black screen. shut off and turned on,ok. pop and black screen again next day. Now the green power light doesn't go on, always stays yellow. I'm not happy with their tech support, having to wait 48 ours for a call back, and when they did, it was to tell me to wait another 48 hours. Refused to tell me name of autheorized service agent; i was willing to pay to have someone come fix it for weekend even tho it's under warranty.

Replace the Z Sustainer Board, Part # 6871QZH044B and replace the Y Sustainter Board, Part # 6871QYH039B at the same time. If you replace one and not the other the bad one will end up shorting the good one and you’ll lose your picture within a week. You can do this work yourself by unplugging the unit and placing it face down on carpet (put down a soft blanket to protect the screen) and unscrewing the back of the unit (a power screw driver works great for this job because there are a few screws involved). The cheapest place to buy these two parts are: , or, or

Pop sound then no picture, just sound

I assume this is a plasma TV? You will have a fuse blown on either the Y or Z sutain board, there is also a possibility one of the driver IC's has blown on the buffer board, this will shut down the screen & leave the audio working normally. You can check these boards which sit on the left & right hand sides of the screen.

Sorry thats the death of your tv I
m afraid, the pop you heard is either your lamp or tube going boom.

While watching tv we heard a loud popping sound, then the screen went black.

Good Day, ginabrownb;

When your TV talks to you loudly, it is a really good idea that you call a FACTORY AUTHORIZED SERVICE CENTER.

They can come to your home and give you an estimate, so you can determine if you want "it" fixed.

Good Luck, big IRISH.
