Hello, I'm having the same problems too. The CS and TS are just ridiculous. There are a couple of possible solutions at http://www.orangeproblems.co.uk/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?p=22924 I'm going to try them later this eve. I'm going to buy a modem and see if this magically fixes the problem and am going to try changing the settings on the configuration pages. Hopefully it will work for both of us! I've spent the weekend reading so many bad reviews for Orange broadband, it's quite unbelievable. Regards Emily

PPP should be refering to PPPOE (or point to point protocal over ethernet). PPPOE is the method that a DSL modem logs into an ISP. So essentially their log in server is down, and since your modem is unable to connect to their login server you cannot get online. This sounds like a problem entirely on their end, and unfortunately you're pretty much at their mercy in regards to when it gets fixed. My only suggestions other than just waiting it out is look into another ISP or purchase a wireless card and a large antenna and see if you can pick up an open network close to your location. The later option is entirely based on you lucking out and picking up a connection close by though, it's possible nobody near you is sharing an open wireless connection. Peter

Wanadoo router (Livebox) is "open"

Welcome to FixYa.

If you are in France, then chances are, your internet service provider is not ORANGE Broadband? (http://shop.orange.co.uk/broadband/)

Wanadoo router (livebox) has locked its router for their broadband service only or at least an affiliated one.

Try to use the CD that came with it to setup the connection and you will find out while entering your username and password, you will receive and error that says what you entered is not a domain used by Wanadoo.

Livebox will not try to authenticate over PPPoA unless the user has entered a username within a Wanadoo domain.

That is why there is no way to login to it's GUI (http://192.186...).

You can try http://192.168.1.200 or http://192.168.1.1 (this one should be the correct one)

There is no contact information for France since the internet service provider of Wanadoo operates only in the UK. (http://shop.orange.co.uk/broadband/)

I hope this information will save you time in searching for answers that do not matter.

Thank you for using FixYa.

Have a great day.

Print via usb with HP C3100 photosmart printer on an orange livebox printer using mac os10.6.2

As far as I know, a Livebox does not support an USB print server function, if that's what you're trying to accomplish. The USB port in the Livebox is for configuration only.
However, there might be a new model I haven't seen that has such a functionality.

Connect OK to Broadband through speedtouch modem from 0151 625 9611 but cannot sign in to email despite having done so for several years. Get message server cannot be found when I am actually connected to...

well...this is a settings issue for smtp and pop servers..if you're on the same DSL or cable service, than those should be identical..just ckeck em to make sure..and the port assignments sometimes need to be different for different modems..check with your ISP and modem maker for this information.

Some web pages won't open/display

Dear Friend,

Simply change the MTU value under WAN configuration. It will work fine. Change MTR value to 1452 or 1500. Check it will work.

Laptop

Hi,

It really depends on what "modem" Orange provided you with and how your personal PC is connected to the modem.

If the "modem" provided by Orange uses WiFi (such as Livebox) networking, then it is a matter of setting up your daighter's laptop to access and use the Livebox WiFi Network. In this case no router is needed since your modem is also a router.

If your PC is connected via Ethernet port to the "modem" and Orange's "modem" is a single Ethernet output port, you would need an AP/Router (Wireless since I am presuming the your daughter's laptop would be accessing the Internet wirelessly) such as the LinkSys WRT54G.

If your PC is connected via USB port to the "modem" and Orange's "modem" has only a USB output port (no Ethernet), you need to make your PC as the default gateway/software router and share your PC's Internet connection. If you are connecting your daughter's laptop using Ethernet cable, then you don't need a WiFi AP/Router but an ordinary hub. If on the other hand the new laptop would connect wirelessly, you would still need something like the WRT54G.

Hope that this be of some help/idea. Pls post again how things turned out or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Can't set up wireless connection

  1. Check in your system: Click Control Panel, then double click System. On the Hardware tab click Device Manager. Click the (+) sign besides the Network Adapter. See if the Packard bell wireless adaptor is there. If its is not there, right click the Network Adapter and click Scan for hardware changes, and reinstall the network adapter.
  2. If the Packard bell network adapter is already there, click Start and click My Network Places. On the left side of the Network Connection, click View Network Adapter. The wireless network adapter should be there. Right click the wireless network adapter and choose properties. Give check mark on Show icon in notification area when connected (to show you if there is wireless notification), and give check mark to Notify me when this connection has limited or no connectivity (to show if the wireless network is disconnected). and click OK
  3. Turn on the orange broadband livebox. And right click the the wireless network connection (on Network Connection) and choose View Available Wireless Networks. And the click the Orange broadband Livebox to use this wireless Network connection.
I hope this solution is helpful to solve your problems

Best Regards
Blackrobin
