Question about Sony Handycam DCR-PC5 Mini DV Digital Camcorder

1 Answer

Eject mechanism issue.

When I open the outer door to the tape load and eject region the left side of the tape cage pops up. the right side stays closed. So the inner frame appears twisted. Left edge doesn't catch and stay down. Tapes get stuck. Interested in a repair estimate.

Re: Eject mechanism issue.

The estimate depends on the extent of the damage... if it is just a matter of reallignment I would estimate $50-100 at most shops. But based on your description, it sounds more likely that parts of the transport are irrepairably bent or broken and will need replacing, which would put the estimate around $200-350.

Eject the tape on Hitachi VT-FX695. It stays on for about 45 seconds and will not eject and then powers off.

the door mechanism is may be gripped because of a small kick...
did you try to open the door with a full charged battery and with the wall plug connected too ? help it with a toothpick or the corner of a credit card...
if this doesn't work, it may be the motor that is dead, do you ear any little noise when asking the ejection ? if yes, it is the mechanic, if not, it is the motor or the motor driver that is dead.

Can't open door - can't eject tape

How old is your camera?
Seems it has weak capacitors in circuit.

Cannot get tape to eject

It could be a couple of different issues. These things could help.
(1) Power OFF the camera, remove battery then replace the battery, power up the cam and try to eject tape again. Nothing? try...
(2) Gently press inward on the tape cover with both thumbs a few times. Then, while pressing gently inward with one hand, press the release/eject-tape function until you hear a click or release sound. Then, if it doesn't open automatically, gently "help" open the hatch.

If it remains stuck, after follwing these steps a few times it would be my guess that perhaps the camera has been dropped in a way that jammed the mechanism controlling the eject function.

TIPS that may prevent having eject problems: When loading tape, be sure to insert the tape correctly and slowly, makeing sure the tape is placed properly. Gently press on the specific location indicated to close the tape holder, and wait for the tape to "seat" properly before closing any other part of the tape cover or hatch mechanism. Taking a few extra seconds when loading the tape can save extended frustration later.

Sony PC-105 - camera won't charge, hence tape will not eject. Is

I just had the same issue except I left my camera out in the rain. My camera is a DCRF-HC32 Sony Handicam. There is a reset button on the side of the camera where the eject door is. Take a paper clip and hold the reset button in for 5-10 secs. The camera will beep, power on, open the door and it ejected.

Eject problem SOny TRV-110E

The vlatch to spring the basket (cassette holder) is easy to access on these. Many times the eject process will take place if the holder is released. After the door is removed the holder can be released by gentley raising the latch on the right side of the holder assembly. After the tape is out further checks can be made for damp drum or tension issues.

Won't Eject Tape

same problem, after you hit eject is pops out and never opens up, to the right of the "push" button is an arm with a spring, pushing it back will open that side, on the left side is a pin with an arm you can move the arm back the pin moves and the other side will open as well, wont fix the problem but will get you your tape back.  I have a very upset wife, we had a jvc mini DV went out one winter change in temp killed it instantly, now our canon has sat a few years and wont work either,  we bought a flip video, it works.

I Had The Same Issue And Fixed It :o) I Have A Sony Handycam CCD F-730A 8mm. I put the tape in and close it but it would not load the tape down. It just pop back out. If I took the tape out, it works perfectly and would loaded the tape doc down and close.

1st: I unscrewed and removed the door to the tape. Where the tape can be seen. 2 screws hold it down. Without the tape inside. I Saw a Clear Small Plastic in the inside of the camera where the tape sits on each side. On Both Sides, Left and Right are clear plastic like sensors. They look Like Glass and are small.

2nd: I Cleaned them both with a Q-tip and rubbing alcohol. It Worked. The tape loaded and worked nicely.

It was strange. If i touched one of the small glass like sensors. the mechanism the loede the tape would not work. When The Glass sensor was blocked by the tape or just by my finger in front of it, it would not load. Very strange.

Tape deck won't eject tape

The tape might be wrapped around the head or the capstan. The mechanism is delicate so you risk more damage by trying yourself - check with some of the repair shops on the Fixya home page for prices to remove the tape.

Tape won't load

Was having a similar problem but the tape would not even partially load. Spent several hours, over the course of several days trying to figure how to fix this and found the following solution to a similar problem on this site. I tried it as a last worked! Now I just need to figure out what to tell my wife when she asks me "how" I fixed the camera???? Here is what I did...I allowed the mechanism to close without a tape inserted (the only way it WOULD close), gave it a solid - but gentle - whack on the tape side of the camcorder with the palm of my hand...sort of like burping a baby. I said a little prayer to the saint of hopeless causes (St. Jude Thaddeus)...slid the open/eject button, opened the door, slid a tape in, gently pushed it down (where it says "push") and ...the mechanism closed!!! Not sure if the "fix" will last but we'll see and report back if the problem crops up again.
