Having a hard time connecting to a broadband

go to tools, then select internet options,select the conection tab,at the bottom you will see lang settings , click it open,check box automaticaly detect settings , then click or , close options box.now reset the modem, and your computer will find it and issue ip address automaticalytakes about a minit.you should be good to go now ,
