You have a bad overload/relay . This is the piece pluged onto the side of the compressor , with 2 or 3 wires going to it . The part number is 8201786 . It is easily replaceable and instructions come with it . Price is around $60.00 .

You can purchase a kit which is part number URCO410 which is a new relay, overload, and capacitor. If its a newer whirlpool you will want to hook the wires into your old capacitor. It comes with instructions its very easy to install. The reason you want to use your OEM capacitor is because it will draw a lower amperage and give your compressor a longer life as opposed to using the capacitor that comes with the kit. Hope this helps _MJ_

You need to replace the fan. It doesn't use an external starter. Part 24 on this diagram is your motor. http://www.appliancepartspros.com/partsearch/model.aspx?model_id=502485&diagram_id=124933#d124933
