How to fit a daisy wheel to a type writer

We have just bought a second hand Olympia Carrera 2000 type writer and the daisy wheel has been dislodged. We do not have a manual and are struggling to fix it back in place.

Re: How to fit a daisy wheel to a type writer

This is primarily for the Brother typewriter I don’t know Olympia typewriters. Brother print wheel are contained in a plastic “cassette” and are not that hard to install.

Hello, I have bought an AEG Olympia Carrera MD (second hand typewriter). If I want to typewrite the text stops in the middle of the line, while I want to use the full lenght of the line. Can anyone solve...

I am not an expert on old olys but it sounds like you want to set tabs in the middle of the page. First go to the Right margin, press the MAR REL key, space to desired R. margin location, press R. margin key. Space or backspace to desired location, press TAB SET at desired locations.

How do you fix the daisy wheel for Mastertype 1

It is usually that the printwheel is in wrong. Make sure the pw does not have any bent "petals" on it making it bind.
After it snaps in and closes it should go to it home position. If not keep trying a couple of more times and it should seat in.

Swintec 4000; type writer ribbon will not stay on and when it stays on - nothing prints out, and the ribbon jams up

Hello- Of course the cheapest fix, is to try a second ribbon. If you need one we have them at

Most often the reason the ribbon cassette will not stay in place is due to not being seated properly. I am sure you have taken it out a few times and re installed it, but that is "normally" the only reason it "jumps up" one more thing to check in the lever near the daisy wheel. if it got bumped or unlocked the daisy wheel your ribbon will not seat properly.

Good luck.

Wrong letters typing

it sounds like you were using a non-brother correction tape, one that was too sticky and consequently too "slow" and during the correction sequence the fingers of the daisy-wheel got entangled with the tape. Make sure that the correction tape is of a "non-sticky" nature and then take off the correction and printing tapes. That way you will see better how the daisy-wheel is fitted . I will assume that you have an instruction book to show how this is done. before fitting the daisy wheel examine the fingers to see that none are bent or crossed over each other. If this is the case it is better to buy another one. bring your typewriter to the shop if this is the case and they will possibly re-fit the wheel for you. good luck.....

Look for a key with a coloured symbol,ie,indicating "keyboard 1",or something similar. Hold the code key down and at the same time press your selected key. Order should be restored. If not, look up an Olympia dealer and they will help you over the phone. One thing for sure ,you have inadvertely selected a 2nd or 3rd keyboard setting to accommodate an other daisy-wheel/language. Good luck!
