Re: Gateway Essential Upgrades

Which gateway essential is it?

With modern CD burners (with Buffer underrun protection) you can use them with almost any processor (as the main problems are commuted by the buffer underrun protection.)

you should have no problem in installing a larger HDD

and you can upgrade the memory.

if you use the Kingston configorator, telling it which machine you have,it will tell you which memory is compatible and what the maximum capacity is.

The processor upgrades available to you depend on your particular system; in particular, the motherboard hardware and BIOS installed by your computer manufacturer. They do not depend on the processor you already have.

Microphone is not working

It needs to have the memory upgraded and reset when the idle CPU processes are just spinning not using any additional energy recapture this lost energy and turn your computer's GPU into a powerhouse working for you! It's the simple trick Dell, HP, Gateway , Packard Bell don't want you to know!

I recently updated to windows 7 from vista. im having loads of problems with my intel chipset with integrated graphics...i got the windows 7 drivers for it already and im still having problems idk if its...

You'll need to access the computer manufacturer's support site to find the appropriate 64-bit driver for this chipset. If you post the make/model of computer I can probably assist with that.

Hope that's helpful.

Is there any other OS that is compatible with windows 7? All of my software is for my Vista. Is ther anything else I can do to make my OS more compatible?

Programs released before the market release of Windows 7 are most likely XP and Vista compatible only. What I recommend is to check the websites of those programs for available updates or upgrades. Newer versions of software are Windows 7 compatible.

I want to upgrade my procesor to faster procesor.

Upgrading processor is not likely a practical solution; find out the motherboard manufacturer and contact their site for more information. As to upgrading the motherboard, you'll have to know what kind/size of board your system will require. If you don't have lots of experience, this process is very risky.

Frankly, the cheapest way to upgrade your computer is to buy a used and working product with Windows XP already installed. Go to, select your city, and search for a brand name you trust. I've bought DOZENS of used computers very cheap that way (I'm writing this on a $2,200 Dell Latitude D620 I bought fiv months old for $500, who needed the cash!)

I want upgrade

hello, i would install the cpu you wish to use, then see how it runs. and then do a bios update. this may work,if not the motherboard may not be compatible with the cpu upgrade, (propriatory equipment sometimes does not allow such upgrades) like hit or miss! i hope this info helps, and you get the dell to accept the faster cpu. good luck! glen

there is a basic guide i will give ya
1. not all parts are comptable so please check visually before trying to swap them

a. the large to med size board that everthing plugs into is the MOTHERBAORD or mobo for short
b. the cpu central processor unit (usually) is under a heat sink & fan upper left hand when looking at most (most) desktop mobos
c. the ram random access memory is usually to the right of that and may be sd ddr ddr2 depending on age of mobo
e. there should be cables going to the optical drive, cdrom, etc, hard drive or HDD for short wide usually gray is called ide or smal thin sata depends on the mobo
f. sometimes there are parts in the slots on the bottom left of the mobo (these can be anything from vidoe cards to modems to lans no way to tell without more info)

the first thing to look at if you are upgrading is the ram compatable take a tick out of the old unit you will see the catches make sure it is unpluged and you have touched the metal case before touching inside of computer static electrcity can damage a lot on a computer then take a stick out of this one do the slots or notches line up if so more than likley they are compaitble

next look at the cpu repmve the heat sink and fan carfully lift the cpu chip do not bend the pegs or its ruined look at the slotit came out of it will tell you mpg or pga 478 or socket a or socket 482 they would have to match to see if they were ubgradable.

like I said though depends on the age difference most are not that compatible even in the same brands.

Video Editing Do I need to upgrade?

Get a new system... Sorry if this isn't what you want to here but RD-ram is stupidly expensive. 512mb of RD-ram is usually a few hundred dollars and hard to find. Since you have RD-ram that means you also have a Pentium 4 processor, probably in the range of 1.2 -1.8 Ghz

Vegas is a great video editing program but it needs way more than speed that that to render a video (in a decent amount of time. it will render on a slower processor, it will just take forever!). You will be much happier of the results if you just replace the computer rather than try to upgrade it.

Possible upgrades for a Toshiba Satellite A135

With notebook there are not many upgrades available, but if you are using a lot of multi-media it is savvy to increase you memory.

My suggestion is that you look to go up to 2 Gb; you should see a nice different on performances.

Upgrade from 600 MHz to 1 GhZ

According to this review, you can upgrade as far as a 2 GHz P4-M at least;,1895,669029,00.asp Other than that, i have been unable to find the details of your motherboard - if you can post the make and model (should be printed on it somewhere) then I would hope to find a more complete list of compatible and incompatible processors. Gateway themselves no longer offer online info or support for this model, but the motherboard details should enable me to find out what you need to know. Waiting for your post :)
