I had an acomdata 250 gb drive for about 6 months before it crashed. the read/write mechinism is broken. ive sent multiple emails to the companies listed contact addresses, and its been about a month without getting a reply since i sent the first one. is this company dead? or am i just getting ignored in the hopes that i will give up? im not a technoidiot. i have tried multiple software methods for repairing this drive. ive basically done everything humanly and computerly possible to fix it without cracking open the case. case opened = void warrentee. but if the company is dead i figure that i might as well just take the thing apart, and at least salvage anything nifty, cause apparently a dead company isnt going to honor their warentees.
Your warranty doesn not offer data recovery. Only a replacement. Many people are unaware of this so drive dompanies just forward those to a voicemail trap. Try investing in an enclosure that is more realiable, with a name that's reputable, you won't be left in the dark next time.....and considering it seldom if ever happens with seagate.
Keep me posted.
