TV repair I need to get a power board repaired or replaced for a sony trinitron tv model kv35s36. serial# 9015351

4 times standby light blink shows that tv got problem in vertical deflection section and probably vertical output IC got defective, need to be replaced.
Replacement of parts in circuit board requires soldering work and expertise so call local tv repair shop guy if you are not familiar with soldering work.

There are two IC's that need to be replaced they are on the D Board, One is used in the power regulation and the other is for HV Regulation, cost to repair this plus parts should not cost more then $150.00..

Those blinks [flashes] are fault indication (Error Codes). From the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON, you can get an idea about the faulty circuit section inside it. This will make repair easy. These are called blinking codes. Make sure about the exact number of blinking of the standby/power LED, by switching On & OFF the set, for at least two times. Count it carefully. If you wish to get some details, check the site linked here. It has details about blinking codes, and fault locating procedure, to many popular brand TVs and other devices.

If blinks continue without any pause, the main board is faulty.

the red light flashing tells you and a service person why the tv will not power up . if you have test equipment to work on electronic equipment then we can move forward if not ,your tv will need parts replaced or board replaced . you dont have a failure that you can change a setting or push a reset button to repair . you will need to get in there with equipment inject signals,look at waveforms ,and check voltages . and know what you are doing with the information you gather ...the other answer you need to send it out for repair .... most repairs on this set will run 100.00-200.00 for common problems .........Please if this answer helped , please rate this 3 or 4 stars . and keep me in the paid answer department . yes the power supply inside the unit is now gone.
it needs a rebuild.
or replacment, you can call a company named andrews electronics, give them your model number and ask them cost of power supply board..

Best thing to do is get 3-4 people to haul it to the curb. That is a high voltage failure which can be related to a bad tube or flyback. That TV is too old to get parts for and not worth spending a single dime on.

how long have you had your tv, and what i had found out is that after replacing the power supply board my tv went out a second time but i had gotten a warranty and then another power supply board was replaced and it would not come on, for 2-3days, so everyday i would just keep on pluggin it up and one day it came back on and i havent turned the tv off yet, what i was told by the tv repair man was that i needed a picure tube, and he said sony knows these tv has alot of problems, i tried contacting sony but was given the run around, i just wont by sony products anymore as they dont stand behind there product

Id you have no TV repair experience, play it safe and take the set into an authorized Sony repair place to estimate the cost to repair. Yes I know it would be nice to repair, but how much do you know about component level printed circuit board repair? You will need to first get a service manual, know how to read a circuit diagram, thats a schematic, and know how every circuit works with each other to make the TV set operate. I do appriciate the fact you would like to repair this yourself, but there is no magic fix in most cases when it comes to electronics. There is circuit diagnosise involved. Best advice would be to call in a pro to assist you in these types of repairs. Good Luck
