Question about Kenmore Ovens
We have seen F2, F3, F5 codes flashing on the display while baking in the oven. Owner's manual says to turn off oven, wait 1 hour, try again - same problem. Other sites have stated possible keyboard, ribbin cable, control panel. Is there anyway to narrow this down? I have not tried to resolve this yet. Any clues / insights would be greatly appreciated! Thank you

SOURCE: F2 Oven overheats
jaz3133, it's probably the temp sensor that has gone bad. You should be able to get it from the front. It's the probe that comes out from the back wall of the oven. You can have someone ohm it out. Should read approx 1100 ohms at room temp. Part number for the temp sensor is WB20K5040. Make sure power is off befor removing the sensor. Catriver..post back.

Boone, by the sound of your post it sounds like the power relay board could be bad. If you had a stuck or shorted keypad, you should be getting a different code. The F2 code means an overheated condition. If it's a double oven it could mean a secondary board failure. The way to go on this would be to ohm out the temp sensor first. Should read about 1100 ohms at room temp. Another way to check it is to swap the bake and broil wires on the power relay board. They will be marked BA and BR. Fire the oven up again and if the bake element comes on then you know that the broil relay is stuck or shorted. Without being there to do the tests, I believe that the problem lies in the power relay board. The part number for the board is 71003431. Priced around 116.00. Jenn-Air usually has a 5 year warranty on these parts. Hope this points you in the right direction. Catriver..post back

SOURCE: F3 and F2 Error Codes
If hitting clear/cancel won't clear it try unplugging and then plug it back in. My guess is the oven control is bad. Here are the fault codes for this model.
Code Condition Check/Repair F0 or F1 Failed transistor in control If code cannot be cancelled, replace the Electronic Range Control (ERC) or touch pad F2 Oven over temp - exceeded 590F with door in unlocked position or 990F with door locked If actual temp condition occurred, look for welded relay contacts or high resistance connection or any cause in the oven temperature sensor circuit F3 Open oven temperature sensor circuit Measure oven temperature sensor circuit at oven temperature sensor (should be approx 1100 ohms at room temp); check for cut or pinched wire or loss of contact F4 Shorted oven temperature sensor circuit Same as above; check for melted connector or both leads shorted to ground F8 Component failure within Electronic Range Control (ERC) effecting temp processing circuits Replace Electronic Range Control (ERC) F9 Problem with door lock circuit such as pinched wire between Electronic Range Control (ERC) and door lock switch Check wiring and test operation of switch

HI, This seems to be another ERC issue. the temperature sensory circuit is malfunctioning. the oven will not operate while this condition exist within the ERC. This malfunction will allow your oven to over heat and may cause a fire. The second issue will be that the relay drive circuit is malfunctioning as well. If you cant cancel the error code and continue with normal usage, you will have to replace the ERC once more.
Please rate and god bless:)
