I could be on the computer for a while and sudenly it shut down. The computer is connected to AC power. Could it be the DC power suplly?
Where could I buy DC power to replace the one I have? Also how much they cost, buying the direct from HP?
There is a class action lawsuit currently being initiated against HP for this issue. The Complaint alleges that HP misrepresented and concealed material facts regarding certain laptops including a design defect, which causes the power jacks of the laptops to fail.

This sounds more like a heat problem. Is the bottom of the laptop hot when it shuts down? If so get some compressed air and blow out all of the vents on the laptop. Also you can get the fan that you set the computer on.
Doubtful that it is the power supply, but if it is the best bet is to get one off of eBay. Word of warning tho, the "replacement" adaptors are not good, I would look for a genuine HP. Should be somewhere around $30 and direct from HP could run up to $100.
Hope this helps
