Question about SanDisk Sansa e260 MP3 Player

Error with formatting

I have tried to do a firmware update and every time it almost completes then comes up with a message "ERROR! Application failed to read the version details." So my question is how do i get the version details back on the player. P.S. when i try to format using Disk Managment it stops just before the and says "the format did not complete successfully" Please if u can help me i will be your best friend

Its not a firmware update you are running, it is a recovery tool. The "application failed to read version details" error is because it is not meant for your device. You have a Rhapsody version and the firmware is different. You will need to call SanDisk for them to email support documents. SanDisk Technical Support 1-866-726-3475 If you are truly trying to format the device, change the mode on the device Settings>Mode or USB Mode, then try formatting again. Best of Luck.

How to update


Before updating the firmware, be sure to verify and complete the following procedures:

Back up all audio, video, image or data files stored in the player to a secure location before changing the firmware.


All contents in the player will be lost when you install a new firmware.

Close all active applications as well as all background applications, including all media players and anti-virus programs such Norton Anti-virus.


Disable the Detector application in Creative MediaSource.

To do so, start Creative MediaSource, click on Tools, Settings, and then Detector. Uncheck the box next to Enable Detector.


Close down MediaSource.

Ensure that the firmware download was saved into the hard drive of your PC, not the player itself. Otherwise, it will report an error message Unable to lock the drive.


To check for firmware version before the firmware download, please refer to the section How Do I Find the Firmware Version on a Creative MP3 Player


To update the firmware of a Creative MP3 player, follow the procedures below.

Download the appropriate firmware from http://www.creative.com/support.


While at the site, select a region to download from.

At the download page, make sure you select the exact model of your MP3 player.


You can also select your product and firmware from the list below.

Each firmware download is accompanied by a Web Release Note under Show Details.


To find out more on how to install a firmware, click on the Show Details button at the download page, or refer to the README.TXT file if included with download.


Connect your player to your PC and check that it is installed correctly

Double click on the downloaded firmware file.


A window will appear with instructions on how to complete the firmware update.

This article describes how to troubleshoot problems that you may experience when you try to activate a 2007 Microsoft Office application. Additionally, this article contains several methods that you can use to troubleshoot activation issues.

This article is intended for a beginning to intermediate computer user.

You may experience the problems in the following scenarios:

Scenario 1
When you try to activate a Microsoft 2007 Office suite, you may experience one of the following symptoms:
  • You receive the following error message:Your software cannot be activated because the product key you installed with is not valid. Please uninstall the software and reinstall it using a valid product key.
  • The activation process fails. Additionally, you receive a message that states that you have reached the limit on the number of computers on which you can activate the 2007 Office suite.
Scenario 2
When you successfully started a 2007 Office application and all functions worked correctly for you in the past, you receive an error message. The error message indicates that significant changes were made to the configuration of the computer. In addition to this error message, you may also experience any of the following symptoms:
  • When you try to activate the 2007 Office suite, the Activation Wizard disappears.
  • When you try to to activate the 2007 Office suite over the Internet, you receive a communications-related error.
  • When you try to activate a 2007 Office suite , the Activation Wizard does not start. Additionally, you receive no error messages.

Scenario 3
You try to activate the 2007 Office suite over the phone. However, after you enter the confirmation ID that the support staff supplied to you, you receive an error message. The error message states that the confirmation ID is invalid.

Scenario 4
When you successfully started a 2007 Office application and all functions worked correctly for you in the past, the 2007 Office application now runs in a reduced functionality mode.

Scenario 5

Even when I am using the administrator account I can not download updates
from the windows update site the yellow icon used to appear but no updates,
now no icon appears, these messages come up whenever I've tried to download
updates manually from the windows update site [Error number: 0x8DDD0002] or
something that goes like this OxOOOA46 and there is a link to where one gets
instructions on fixing it. I have done what was suggested which was to go to
tools internet explorer security and make sure user persistence user data was
enabled I've done all this to no avail. I've been told that I need to be an
administrator to download updates but anytime I've tried to download updates
I've been using an account with administrator privileges.

I've had problems accessing the internet for ages but it is only lately that
I can't download updates from the windows update site.

I keep getting these error messages when I switch on my computer using the
limited account. ccApap.exe - Application Error.
The application failed to initialise properly (OxcOOOOO22) click on ok to
terminate the application.

I click on ok and then another message comes up osCheck.exe - Application
Error

Again I click on ok and another message comes up PIFSvc.exe - Application

I click on ok and windows loads as normal. I can access programs such as
works and windows media player but my anti virus (Norton Internet Security
2007) has disappeared but when I use the Administrator Account Norton seems
to be there and seems to work ok.

My computer is a year old and I have had to get it repaired a couple of
times but I don't want to spend any more on it as they can't seem to fix the
problem. I can do what I want so long as it is offline anything that
involves the internet I have problems with. The computer Operating System is
Windows xp Home Edition with service pack 2. I use Internet Explorer version
7.

Any ideas on why I have problems with the internet and what I can do to
solve them would be much appreciated.


None of those failing modules that you mention are from Microsoft.
I suspect that they may be from your security package(s).
Try enabling the Windows firewall only. Uninstall your other security packages
and then retry getting the updates.

BTW if you are only concerned with getting the updates but don't care how
you could also try using the Windows Update Catalog, download and install
manually from there.

Take it to a dealer if you are not 100% OK doing the following:

The error is caused by an installed application failing and damaging the BlackBerry Operating system in the process. The fix is to simply erase and reinstall the operating system to your phone. This sounds difficult but isn't too hard in practice. It's something you can do yourself on your home PC using BlackBerry Desktop Manager. If you don't feel confident in doing this yourself then you can take it to a BlackBerry repair centre and they'll carry the repair out for you, but you might have to wait a couple of weeks for them to do it and if you're out of warranty you'll probably have to pay for it.

In most cases, the 12 steps listed below should get your handset working again & the process is exactly the same if you want to upgrade your firmware to a newer version. Before you start though I'd recommend that you check the following:

The battery in your BlackBerry handset is fully charged.

*Internet Explorer is needed to download latest version of BlackBerry Firmware. BlackBerry Desktop Manager isn't an essential part of the process, but it will make managing your device a lot easier.

Once you've downloaded and installed the latest versions, it's time to start updating your phone. You'll need to be patient though, as this isn't the fastest process in the world and it will take some time to erase everything and then reinstall the software. When I ran through it for this post it took around 45 minutes on a BlackBerry Curve 8310 upgrading to 4.5.0.163 on a PC running Windows XP SP3.

To be on the safe side, I'd close any other applications on your computer and go make yourself a coffee while you wait for the update to finish.

It's extremely important that once you start this process you don't disconnect your BlackBerry from your computer or switch your computer off until the update has completed and you're told it is safe to do so by the update application.

6. If you're asked for a password, type in your BlackBerry password and click Next.
7. The Device Application Selection screen appears. Select the applications to be loaded onto your BlackBerry smartphone.

8.If the Device Backup screen appears, choose whether or not to automatically back up the BlackBerry smartphone. Click Next.

9.Click Next. The 'Completing the Application Wizard' screen will appear and display all the software that will be loaded to your BlackBerry smartphone.

10.Click the Advanced button and make sure that Erase all application data and Erase all currently installed applications are both selected. Note: If the Application Loader is not able to access all of the BlackBerry smartphone data, then both Erase all application data and Erase all currently installed applications will be grayed out.

11.Click Next, You'll be asked if you want to be notified of future updates, enter your email address and then click Next again.

12.Click Finish. The BlackBerry firmware will now be updated on your BlackBerry. You'll need to be patient though as this will take around 45 minutes to complete - maybe longer.

13.That's it - All done. Once you see the update successful screen it is safe to disconnect your phone from your computer.

If you get any error messages at any point, you may need to start the process again. If you try 3 times and it still won't work, you'll need to take your handset to your nearest repair centre or contact BlackBerry for help.

Do not worry! I had the same problem as you before and got it fixed perfectly! Go to this thread and read the instructions carefully.

Note that doing this will delete all files in your player, so I recommend you to save your files somewhere before doing this.

Sansa e200 resetting problem


The error message means that you have a different version.

Your device is annotated with an R or the word Rhapsody on the back. I have contacted FIXYA to add these models, but my words were unheard.

You will need to contact SanDisk for the Rhapsody version of the files to fix your problem.

What version of windows are you using also are you getting the message on the phone or the pc if the pc and you are using xp try the updated ver of the software and also java update
