As was my experience in the past, HP will not allow me to purchase the repair part.  HP will repair the printer for $279.00 or will discount a replacement printer at a discounted price. This is the second time this item has failed. The first time was under warranty and the printer was replaced with a refurbished unit.

Is there instructions for replacing the MP730 printhead (QY6-0064-000 ) anywhere?

Remove Ink Cartridges Lift grey lever to the right side of the cartridge holder to the up position.
The print head should lift out nicely. You may need to squeeze sides of the cartridge holder slightly to the center in order to clear the outer print head assembly.

I cannot change the cartridges as yhe holder seems to be stuck

Welcome to FixYa!

Note: When removing and inserting back the print cartridges, you need to use a small amount of force because of its safety locks. Just be careful not use excessive force, it might damage your printer.

If your printer has Two Cartridge System with no latches, here's a proper way to remove and insert the print cartridge. Please refer to the image below.

1. Press down the tip of the print cartridge and pull it away. You will hear a "click/tick" sound while pressing it downwards.
2. Make sure to remove the protective cover of the print cartridge.
3. Slide in the new print cartridge in its holder.
4. Lock it by doing the figure #4 in the picture below. You will hear a "click/tick" sound which indicates that it is locked.

How do I get the cartridge out to replace with new one???

The steps of replacing cartridge with a new one.

1) First You keep the printer power on. Open the printer cover - you will find the cartridges holder will come in proper place (the position varies printer to printer) so that you can easily remove the old cartridge.

2) Press gently the upper front portion of the cartridge you want to remove out of the printer holder - you will find it will be unlocked - just remove the cartridge carefully. (in some printer there is a cover on top of the cartridge holder which you can open to perform the step 2.

3) Unpack the new cartridge.

4) Don't forget to remove the plastic tape from the cartridge head (Ex.in HP, Lexmark cartridges etc).

5) Look the printer holder and look to the cartridge - you can easily decide the position of the cartridge in the holder.

6) Gently and carefully  put the cartridge in the holder - press the upper portion of the cartridge from front side - the cartridge will be locked autometically in the holder.

7) Put the printer cover in proper place.

8) Print Now - it will print test page first. Now print as usual.

I hope the solution is helpful to you. Thanks for using fixya.com.

The print cartidge is missing

Please note the printer make and model and visit any computer shop - disclose the model name there they will give you the perfect cartridge. If you know how to fit the cartridge then well but if you don't then unpack the cartridges and please remove the plastic tape from the cartridge head or it will not work, open printer cover up - notice the empty cartridge holder in the printer, there you notice black and color cartridge holder. Look to the cartridge and holder you will understand the position of the cartridge to fit, now push the lower portion of any cartridge to the holder and give a very low pressure on the top (backward pressure to fit the in the holder). Same way you fit the next cartridge. Close the printer cover down. Print any document - it will definitely print.

Black ink cartridge holder not working , can not print with black ink cartridge holder, when i use the colored ink holder printer works ok

The problem you are describing is with the black ( BC-10 ) print head and not with the printer.

1. Check your black ink tank and be sure it is not dry.

2. Run the printer through one DEEP cleaning cycle and see if that improves the print.

If your black ink tank is full, and the deep cleaning cycle produces no improvement, you will need to replace the BC-10 print head.

nope, there should be no tape on the cartridge. This is preventing the ink from coming out.

Black ink won't print

Any tape/plastic left on the contact points on the cartridge, or any dirt on the contact points on the cartridge or cartridge holder? Will your old cartridge work, except poor print due to empty of ink? If so your new cartridge may be broken.

See if you can try a cartridge known to work in your printer and also try your cartridge in a printer similar to yours to eliminate source of error.

DELL AIO 922- All in one- Printer won't print

Remove the right ink cartridge (color). You will get an error saying the cartridge is empty, but ignore that. Hit cancel on your printer. Print your job...when your print screen comes up, under preferences check the box for print colors in black and white. Your printer should print just fine without the color cartridge. Ignore the flashing red light.
