Question about Microsoft Windows XP Professional With Servise Pack 2 (e8503040) for PC
I have numerous Restore Points but every time I want to do a Restore to an earlier day it comes up "Not able to restore your computer...blah, blah, blah" I've checked the usual places to make sure its up AND running. Please help! And THANK YOU for your time & talent. Danny G.
After repeated attempts to try and get the System Restore to restore to an earlier date but always failing I relented to try what I had been advised to do but didnt agree with at the time, which was to uninstall the Norton Symantic End Point Antivirus protection. Which cured the system Restore problem needless to say I have a different Antivirus protection installed now.

You can choose the first most restore point which you have not created but it is created by the system itself. Remember the first most restore point not any one of yours.. All the best

There is something wrong with the registry, both current and prior (all of the restores did not work, right?). do a reg scan using one of the free scanners available like at zdnet.com. once scanned and repaired, disable restore mode (assuming none worked-you will lose all of them) and then run check disk, then defrag. then enable restore mode again and full shut down. now turn on and test the restore point you just made (run restore). if it does not work, you may need to re-install windows. if it does work, remember to repeat above process at least once every 3 months. too many restore points eat up hard drive space.
