Question about Intel Motherboard

1 Answer

Boot/wake-up HP Pavilion a230n will not power up unless I unplug the power cable from the motherboard, hold in the power button and replug in the power cable to the motherboard. Also PC will go into standby (sleep) but will not come out of standby (wake). Windows XP updates are current and BIOS has been updated. Tried all fixes on HP Cust. Service site and PC Doctor indicates that everything is OK...everything passes.

Dear Nikodi

The power supply may be paying tricks on you. Consider changing it. You can also test with another one before you switch them. It's usually the culprit in this scenario; getting ready to die..

For the standby problem, set everything in BIOS to default. If you don't know how, get someone to reset BIOS for you to DEFAULT. This runs without hibernating and restarts at the touch of a key or mouse.

Good luck

After pressing the power button, my HP dv7-1129 laptop only stays on for about 2 seconds and then shuts off. I completely replaced the DC cable and now it receives power, but it does not boot up. What is...

Hello,

try taking the battery out, unplug the DC cable and hold down the power button for 30 seconds this will get rid of the static on the motherboard which could cause the problem.
After you have done this put the battery back in, then the DC cable then try to turn it on.

If not it could be your battery because you are getting an indication that you are receiving power, try taking the battery out and just plugging in the power cable.

Hope this solves the problem.

Computer turns on but won't boot doesn't wake up monitor and it is beeping.

try resetting your bios (i.e. hold power button until it comes on, then goes back off, or taking out your cmos battery on the motherboard and hold a paperclip across the metal prongs for 15 seconds then replace battery) If that doesn't help, then I'd look at possibly a powersupply, ram, or motherboard failure
