Replacement crock for rival crock pot model #38601

I can't find a site that sells a replacement glass crock for my rival crock pot model # (38601). I was wondering if you knew of any. Do you think it is even worth replacing or should i just buy a new one?

handle on lid for model 37601 broken. Crock pot itself still in great shape.

Rival needs to do something about this problem. It happens way too much. Why isn't Rival more customer friendly? It is a huge company, yet you can't find their website. I still haven't found it. I'll remember this next time I'm replacing my crockpot!

Crockpot lid broke after 5 uses. Super glue is not good enough. Rest of appliance is fine. Where do I get a new lid. This is dangerous as the handle is falling apart. Model SCV 401. Too bad they have little competition. Made in the USA would solve many problems like this!

I too need a new liner for model #38601 because the one I currently have has a crack in it. I went to and the product I need is "out of stock". But even if they did have it, they only carry white. Any help will be appreciated!

I am also in need of a replacement lid for 6 qt model 38601 Rival Smart Pot. However, I received mine as a gift from a friend in Canada, and when I opened it the entire lid was shattered. I washed the receipt up in my pants pocket and now I have a brand new, never used crock pot with no lid and can find no replacement? Any suggestions? All suggestions greatly appreciated!!

The knob just broken off my Rival 38601 and I called Rival for a replacement lid and they don't have any and don't know when they will get them in. Their solution, check back every couple of weeks to see if they get stock. Or better yet, buy a new slow cooker and they will give me a big 20% discount... Hoorah for good old customer service :(

  • shannipooh Oct 15, 2008

I also have a Model 38601 and use it all the time. The other day I picked the lid up and the handle just broke right off and the lid hit my tile floor and shattered everywhere. Thank God I had just put my toddler son in the pack n play. I have searched everywhere for another to no avail.

  • joanna92573 Oct 16, 2008

I have the same problem -- went on but it doesn't show my model as a replacement option... is it the same lid?

  • Anonymous Oct 24, 2008

Same problem! Broken lid for 38601, rival says "not in stock" I just called again and said "Is it a safe assumption that you NEVER have it in stock?" He said probably, but at least this guy took my info down to put a request in. Says he'll call back within 2 weeks to let me know. Doubt it will happend but we'll see? I told him I'd suggest the company address this problem as the internet is swamped with complaints on this issue. Maybe everyone should call again and insist they enter requests. Who knows, maybe it'll help!

The handle on the lid broke right off the set screw that holds it in place

  • shannipooh Oct 29, 2008

I called after I posted here and spoke to someone in their customer service and was also told it is out of stock and they took my name and number and said they'd call me when there is one in stock. Ridiculous. I am sure they just assume everyone will by another crock pot instead of waiting on a lid.

My handle cracked and botton glass insert cracked after 5 USES~

  • Anonymous Nov 05, 2008

I tried to order a replacement lid for my Crock Pot 38601 and was told in March 2008 it was out of stock. It is Oct 2008 now and Rival says this unit was discontinued so I believe everyone is going to have to buy a new crock pot if they want a lid.

  • williewick Nov 08, 2008

    Same problem for us.

the lid broke back in Feb of 2008 and we called to order a new top.

They told us, not in stock and they would call us when in.

It is now November and no call, so we called them and still out of stock.

What a scam. It appears to be a product defect if so many people are having cracked lid issues.

My porcelain insert cracked after just having used it a few times. Now my question is the same as yours. How much is a replacment insert or is it just cheaper to buy a new one. The crock pot itself still works fine. But it doesn't hold liquid without the insert.

  • ditrt Apr 09, 2009

My (very brittle) 2-quart porcelain insert cracked. I only need it replaced (the rest of the unit works fine). I have to believe these insert get cracked all the time, and that a 2-quart (or whatever size) insert has very few, if more than one, standard shapes that would be easy to manufacture and make available at no more than the cost of an entire unit low-end unit. Hello. I am very galled at the difficulty of finding a purchasing source on the Internet for such a produce.

I'm not sure who thought making the crock-pots with breakable lids was a good idea. My original Rival crock-pot (with plastic lid) is 30-years old and still works great. The recent new crock-pot I purchased to host larger parties was defective. Rival/Crock-Pot/Jarden kindly replaced it free of charge with a substitute crock pot that had a glass/crockery lid. It broke immediately when removing it from the packaging. My fault, I agree, but the replacement lid is $18 with an $8.95 shipping fee. I will be better off spending $30-$40 on a slow cooker that does NOT have a breakable lid and should not have any need to replace anything in the next 15-30 years. Perhaps I am being too optimistic :)

My lid is broken as well and I just spoke with the company mentioned above that sells the replacements and they are still out of stock with no idea when they will have them. When I mentioned I will probably have to replace my crockpot becuase I just couldnt be without one for that long, she said using aluminum foil works just fine. I guess it would since the lids arent designed to be airtight anyways. Hope that helps - use aluminum foil!

Sounds to me, since the broken lids are so popular, the company better stock lid Qtys. better than what they are doing now.

My lid broke as well for the 37601 as well as the plastic handles on the sides of the outer heating portion. Glad I received this as a gift! While the lid is permanently out of stock (it's April 2008) I don't think it's sound advice to shell out another $10 on junk anyway. I'll use aluminum foil until I can find a model with a sturdier lid handle!
Thanks for the advice.

Thanks for the info on! I looked all over for a replacement for the stonewear inside (I put mine on the stove & it cracked!). I think it's crazy that it's dishwasher safe, oven safe, microwave safe, but not stove safe! Anyways, the part is out of stock, but at least I can check back w/ the site from time to time -- or just buy a new one I guess!

Need plastic handle on Rival Crockpot lid.

For what it's worth, when the handle on my mother-in-law's crockpot broke, I went to Home Depot and bought a cheap wooden drawer knob (about $1 as I recall). I put a plastic washer between the knob and the glass and another under the screw head from the bottom (to prevent cracking the lid), tightened the screw and good as new.

Looking for replacement knob for my red Rival slow cooker

My knob melted off my crock pot... I was left with a screw and a nut.
I replaced my knob with a knob from another glass cover from a sause pan... works great. (and it's a nicer handle).
you can get a cheep pan with a glass cover from a dollar store or thrift shop.
