Well, check the hoses first...do you see anything wet around the clamps or ends of either of the hoses? If not then look at the radiator cap...is there fluid around it? Look at the overflow bottle that is near the radiator...is it cracked? Finally look straight down at the radiator from above the cap...do you see fluid on ANY part of the radiator? especially down at the bottom of it? Look around the engine bay, do you see splatter marks from fluid hitting the fan? If you see fluid anywhere on the radiator itself fill the radiator back up and run the truck until it gets hot and see if you can spot the leaks. If however, there aren't any obvious leaks at all up front...go look at the heater lines that run into the firewall...if they have any leaks then you've found your solution. Another place to check would be around the water pump...just get a flashlight and look for fluid near the pulley that goes to the water pump. Good Luck

How to bleed cooling system 2000 Mazda mpv es 2.5l 24v. That hasn't. Got a petcock or cap on radiator. After installing new waterpump and thermostat?

So the overflow tank would be pressurized with a radiator cap. This would no doubt be higher than top of radiator and engine .Keep filling it without engine running and heater on hot, then start up, when engine gets hot and thermostat opens, water should leave overflow and you need to top up as required.

What could be wrong with my 99 Mazda Protege now? 5 months ago it overheated, replace alternator and belt, now battery wont hold charge and is overheating again, and loosing water coolant.

For a coolant leak you need to check all the hoses and fittings by radiator, heater core, expansion tank for leaks and/or integrity. Also make sure that your water pump is not leaking along with radiator cap and thermostat body. Overheat condition has no effect on battery - if it does not hld charge it is because it is chemically worn out and needs replacement. Until you correct water loss, have extra water in car at all times and run your heater full blast - windows open!!!!

My mazda protege is running hot and the radiator has water

Some thing too check:
Make sure coolant level is up to line and clean (not dirty, do to clogged radiator, may need to be flushed or replaced).
Make sure air flow through the out side of radiator is clear (dirt, leaves, ect..) .
Make sure fan is working properly equip t (is not running too slow). Or Manual (belt driven) fan clutch is working properly, not loose or spinning too freely?
Check for broken or cracked fan blades itself.
Check radiator cap, (no gasket tears).
Could be thermostat going bad ?
Could be coolant temperature Relay or sensor/switch (from computer) going bad?
Check radiator hose(s) (too soft, may collapse)?
In some rare cases:
Timing could be off.
Could be water pump.
Could be blown head gasket(s).
Could have cracked head(s).
ECT..............Hope this was some help???

Have to keep adding water to overflow tank...Code read PO117 for mazda miata MX5

You have a leak in the radiator, water pump, a hose, the heater or a head gasket. Check these and see if there is any water coming out of the exhaust or in the sump.
Take off the radiator cap, fill it right up to the neck, start the engine and warm it up. See if there are any bubbles in the top of the radiator, keep it topped up so there is no room in the top tank.
If there are continuous bubbles then there is a leak in the head gasket.

My mazda mpv keeps overheating after i changed the water pump and thermostat.. how do i bleed my cooling system

It could be the radiator is bad. There is a plug located on the bottom of the radiator. Unscrew the plug and let the fluid drain, you should be able to see if there is rust or gunk in the water/antifreeze. Then use a garden hose and put it in the hole used to fill the radiator and let the water run.

We have just put a new head in mazda bravo 2.5 td and we have just installed new thermostat and flushed radiator and it still heats up quickly on steep hills and rapidly cools back down on flat going

dear friend-it sounds like you are having a circulation problem, when the engine has reached normal working temp feel the two radiator hoses they should be the same heat, also check the water pump to see if the impeller is not loose,it is not to say that the radiator is clean after a flush,it must be opened to clean.

Mazda MPV Coolant Loss (but no overheat)

i had the same thing on my wifes 2000 mpv van...the ends of the radiator are made of some sort of composite type material....it had a slight crack in it....wasn't obvious until it got worse and started streaming water from it when warmed up....even after it cooled enough not to be spewing it was hard to actually see the crack though a few inches long....was hard to even see where the water and antifreeze mixture was coming from until i took out the radiator

I need to flush the water from my radiator out and fill it in with new water and intercooler. but i dont know how to flush it out, need some help please

The way that I flushed mine out was to remove the upper radiator hose at the radiator and kept pouring water in the radiator until I could see clear water coming out of the detached hose. Keep an eye on the open end of the radiator because once it is filled with water, it will overflow out of the open end. Also, be careful of the water coming out of the detached hose, it will be very hot.
