Tan wire above the fan

I am going to replace the fan on my Toshiba Satellite Pro 6100. There is a tan wire hanging above the fan inside the laptop. It has something that looks like a rivet on the end of it. Where is that supposed to go?

That sounds like your Wifi/Bluetooth Ariel loop. Some laptops have the ariel installed but no WiFi/Bluetooth module, This is so you can add it later if you want it

My toshiba satellite pro 6100 will not turn on. The battery light and power light turns green but it will not turn on.sometimes it will on and hang on toshiba logo and if it check it will just off

There's a couple of things you can try here. First I would connect the laptop to an external monitor. If that works, then check to make sure that it is set to internal screen usage by pressing the function key and holding it while pressing the f5 key. If this works then problem solved. However if you get an external screen but the laptop screen still does not turn on then the problem is internal to the laptop you need to get a tech to look at it.

Next, if the above procedure does not produce any results, take off the battery, take off the memory, press the power key a couple of times, replace the ram and the plug in the ac adapter and see if it works. Replace the battery and see if it works. If it works without the battery and not with it then your problem is your battery.

Since you are getting the battery and power lights to turn on, I doubt that it would be your dc jack.

Where does the brown wire on a Toshiba Satellite 6100 connect to

The brown wire is the bluetooth antenna. The bluetooth socket/compartment is the smallest rect. shaped door at the bottom. Bluetooth equipped models should have a bluetooth sticker affixed to their bottoms (silver colored sticker) - they're rare.

What colour is the main coax cable for the wifi card ?

It's a White wire, and a Black wire.

I have no idea why it's named a COAX cable (Coaxial cable) since there are TWO separate wires,
and no shielding on the wires. (Just plastic insulation over the wire)

Go down to the line that starts with Satellite Pro, then go across and click on > 6100.

Suggest you let it download all the way before looking through it.

I bought a replacement Dayton electric condenser fan motor. The original GE had 3 wires. L1 L2 & the fan capacitor wire. The Dayton replacement model 4MB21 has 4 wires, L1 L2 and 2 capacitor wires tan...

The tan/white wire can be insulated/capped and not used. Use and ohmmeter to take a resistance reading between the tan/white wire and L1 & L2. There will be no resistance between the tan/white wire and one of the others. This will be the common wire. Connect it to one side of the contactor. Connect the tan wire to the fan terminal on the contactor and the other wire to the common terminal on the capacitor (that is if you have a 3 terminal capacitor, if you have a 2 terminal capacitor connect tan to one side and the other wire to the other). Then connect the other side of the contactor to the common terminal on the capacitor (on a 2 terminal capacitor connect the contactor to the side that doesn't have the tan wire on it).

Yes, that can be confusing...hook the tan wire with the white strip onto the same line wire as the one going to the capacitor...usually the L2 then in reality you have the two tan wires hooked onto the common and the F terminals of the cap...

My toshiba satellite pro 6100 will not turn on. The battery light and power light turns green but it will not turn on.

The problem could be your display. Use the VGA port on the side of your laptop to connect it to a computer monitor, this will let you know if your system is posting or not. (If you see the Boot Screen it is posting).

Drivers for docking station?

The driver that's needed for docking station (it's more a port replicator than a docking station) support is Toshiba's Mobile Extension 3. After that, it oughta support warm/cold dock/undock.

Go here to find and download Mobile Extension 3:
