Re: DCR TRV30 Zoom in/out Problem

Yikes... I have to say, yikes, since my camera has just recently has the same issue. It's a lense issue. The service men said a lense isnt something to joke around with or try to have just "anyone" to look at. This isnt something you can just fix on your own. You need to notify the manufacturer regarding the OEM manufacturer of the lense. Or, get their information on who to have inspect it. Typically, its something broken, and very small that is articulate and impossible to fix on your own, otherwise there is something off with the focus on the lense..or its creating this issue. Again, dont mess with it it will only make it worse when you hear that grinding sound, trust me..I messed with mine and made it worse then it could have been...

What would cause a sony dcr trv120 zoom button not

There is control switch block that has zoom/wide switch along with play, rewind, forward, stop, pause buttons and this switch block flip up and down while ejecting/ load tape in camcorder, this will be replaced as zoom/wide switch got defective and sending continues command of zoom to system control chip.
Let me know if you need part number of switch block control for DCR-TRV120

Sony DCR-DVD403 camcorder - picture won't focus. E:61:10 error.

E61:10 is a lens error code. You have a bad lens unit, but sometimes they can be fixed. The focus and zoom motor worm drives on the zoom lens jam when they get dropped. If your really really carfull you can free them up and fix the lens. Thereis a plastic claw that rides along the worm drive shaft that can get jamed. I've fixed thousands of these but i'm a guru. It can be tricky.

Zoom is stuck

Just check the DC power supply flowing to the Lens block control. Some times the SMD fuse blows off and power may not reach the lens block motor.
