Mine neither. I took it apart and the rubber driving roller has swollen to the point that it is no longer firmly engaging the grooves on the white splined plastic shaft (with integral gear). It looks like I might be able to replace it with a piece of rubber vacuum line. Tricky...

The foam on the feed roller is probably decayed/ soft. Which has caused the plastic gear that engages that drive gear to wear. If the gear is moved/ spaced over to pick up the 40% that isn't trashed - it'll feed.

I'm going to try to fix my Goodwill purchase anyway. Anything is better that the Canon piece of rubbish I have now. Mybe someone can tell Canon that a few months of use is not enough?

Crtlfreak - On mine the rubber roller sleeve, (mine is soft rubber not foam) expanded and is no longer firmly engaged to the splined plastic shaft which now just turns inside the rubber sleeve. I'm going to try a piece of vacuum line or other thin wall rubber tubing.

Firgot to come back... I disassembled down to the splined shaft, removed the old rubber sleeve and slipped on a same length piece of silicone rubber tubing. Works PERFECTLY now!

The silicone tubing I used happened to be fuel line from my R/C airplane box. I probably got it from Tower Hobbies 10 years ago, either "Great Planes" or "Dubro" brand, I believe it was 1/16 ID and a thin wall. The shaft is bigger so the tubing stretches over the shaft and stays put.

Memory coming back .. It was a little tricky to get it on to shaft, you have to hold the new rubber tube piece in position at the cut out of the metal shaft mount then insert the shaft working it along until the shaft is inserted all the way. (You cannot put the piece on the shaft then insert it.)

Hi Mike, How did you disassemble that thing. I have this problem and can't figure out how to get to the spindle. Any helpful info/pics would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Can't load new roll of paper

The rubber sleeve on the paper advance shaft has likely lost it's elasticity. It expands then the shaft just spins inside of it. It's tricky but I disassembled the paper advance assembly and replaced the old sleeve with a piece of small silicone tubing. Works fine now.

Hi,

Here are the steps for feeding the paper into Casio HR8TE calculator

First feed it through the back, then cut the paper to form a V, then feed this from the bottom and finally when you push feed it grabs the paper!

I have a Canon P23-DHV calculator and I cannot remember how to load the paper into it. I tried to read some of the solutions but could not ger any of them to open so I could actually see the solutions

  1. cut the paper/tape cleanly on a slight diagonal
  2. hang the paper/tape so it comes from under the roll
  3. insert the fresh cut into the slot on the back (between the power plug and tape roll holder)
  4. press the FEED button to advance the paper.
Now, does anyone know how to turn off this blasted auto-shut-off feature????

Cut paper at an angle and insert and push into back slot with tip of angle (apex) to the right of machine when facing it. It should engage number wheel when you hit addition sign, You may need tweezers to pull it thru if it doesn't advance.

Hi, I had the same problem...but I fixed it. Here's how: At the very back of the calculater under the paper roller there is a very thin horizontal slot. Insert the tip of the paper roll into the slot, then press the paper advance button located on the top left hand sidw of the calculator until you see the paper. Guide the paper through the top slot and voila.
