How old are your motherboard and all of its hardware parts?

Is your graphic card is new? If your answer is yes, you have a problem with the ram.
Remove the ram from its memory slot.
Try to clean the ram gold pin with an pencil eraser. clean it horizontally and gently clean the dirt away.
Place it back again to its memory slot.
note: if its not working, remove the ram and replace it to another memory slot

Same as from the graphic card if you got a fail over graphic card use the procedure above

Fans work green light shows on motherboard but cpu wont power up

Any HDD light on / if not could be failed HDD OR faulty IDE / Sata cable.

Did you get posting beep if not remove / replace ram / reboot.

If you did then either mobo / CPU may be faulty.

The new RAM module could be faulty or the second memory slot is faulty.
Try removing the original 1Gb memory module and inserting the new memory module in its place to see if the computer boots up normally. If it doesn't then then new memory module is faulty.

8GB G.Skill F2-8500CL5D-4GBPK in Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3L rev. 2.0

If they are not a matched pair it will not work. If you have two sets of matched pairs. Each pair will have to go into the right pairing slot. Example one set you go in slots 0 and 2 and the other in slots 1 and 3. If you have stickers on the memory sticks look for a group of numbers and letters one group will match it's mate.

When i add a memory in damaged DIMM slot showing black screen?

Try moving the working DIMM to other slots, it should work in any slot, if it does, the other ram u have is incompatible or bad

Install a matched pair of DIMMs (equal in speed: DDR266, DDR333, or
DDR400; density: 64 MB, 128 MB, 256 MB, 512 MB, or 1 GB; and
technology: 128 Mb, 256 Mb, or 512 Mb) in DIMM 0 in both Channels A and
B. If additional memory is to be used, install another matched pair of DIMMs
in DIMM 1 in both Channels A and B.

Asus K8N-dl - second processor present but not running...

Hi, Mistyman here. All Asus mother boards that have dual channel RAM slot must have equal ram in each slot. In most cases the paired slots are matched by color for easy ID, some are identified by a printed ID on the mother board. With your board you will have to have run all of your RAM for the one CPU. If you have only one stick this must be in slot one. If you are using two sticks then utilise the dual chanel system that ASUS have and use A1 & A3. To activate the second CPU you will need to install matching sticks of RAM in the B slots. both cpu's will need to have the value of RAM to work together properly. CPU one = slot A for RAM CPU two = Slot B for RAM. Goodluck, the ASUS boards are a value product.
