Exactly the same problem, AMD 4400+, Kingston RAM 533mhz ddr2 as listed in the compatability section of manual, Nvidia 7600GTS graphics card, dual seagate SATA drives, dvd.

Power on, ethernet lights up, no beeps, dvd will not open. Tried different memory slots, ide slots, power supplies. CPU is fine as its come come out of my Gigabyte GA-M55Plus board, RAM fine. Just will not post. Going to RMA the piece of S**t. Seems this is a very common problem with this board.

Disk Boot Error, please insert System disk and retry

All the lights go up, the fans too. Simply the system doesn't boot, doesnt even get to the post screen. I tried disconnecting the drives, i tried getting the RAM out, putting out the cmos battery. nothing solves it.

Same thing, only my CPU fan isn't even running - lights on board, nothing else running. I took it back to the shop where I got it. It's clearly not the PSU, since it runs everything NOT powered through the mobo fine, and a working PSU doesn't make CPU fan run either. It really can't be any of the other components (RAM, VGA, CPU, drives, etc.) since those things won't prevent POSTing. They might cause a post fail, but it will at least TRY, and give off a couple of beeps... but not *nothing*. I strongly suspect that if you run too much wattage through the board (read: you can't actually run as much wattage as the mobo manual claims you can) it dies. Anyways, I got mine RMA'd, and I'm waiting on a new one.

ASUS M2N SLI with AMD A64 x2 5400+ Processor will not post. PSU test is OK. Is this MB pone to have problems? It's looking like an RMA????

Same problem - almost. Fans run, disks spin up, DVD okay, even some lights on mobo, but no beeps and no POST. Swapped CPU (happened to have spare) - no difference ! As others here also swapped memory, changed drives etc. Only thing is, it *had* been working fine for few weeks, then one day wouldn't boot.

My CH DVD player is about 10 years old. I can't turn the unit on either with the remote or power button. The indicator light is neither red nor green but yellow. None of the unit's buttons work and I...

Unscrew the casing and take it out from there. By the sounds of it your dvd has bitten the dust so it wont matter much about damaging it anymore than it is already

Compaq evo 510 Won't power up.

Could be bad RAM modules. Try swapping out the RAM in the system with new RAM. Install one stick, in one slot. If it boots, that stick and slot are good. Try the stick in each slot to make sure all slots are ok.

DVD plays only in black and white

Hey, I had this problem on Thanksgiving Day, trying to watch a dvd on my mother's HDTV. You should be able to hook up most standard dvd players to hdtvs. First you have 3 cords, mine were red, yellow, and white. The connections go as follows:

Audio| Component. The white cord should be in a white audio slot. The yellow cord should be in a yellow component slot (video) and the red cord should be in a red video component slot labeled Pr/Cr. Make sure you match the component numbers. For instance, if you want to use component one, then hook all of the cords into the slots for component one. Most hdtvs have multiple component hookups ( think multiple "channels" for your game system, dvd player, etc) so it's important that the corresponding cords go to the correct component slots.

Match the yellow and white cords to the appropriately colored slots. The red cord should go into the slot labeled component video out Cr/Pr. Not the red audio out. This worked for me. Hope this helps.

When i add a memory in damaged DIMM slot showing black screen?

Try moving the working DIMM to other slots, it should work in any slot, if it does, the other ram u have is incompatible or bad

Install a matched pair of DIMMs (equal in speed: DDR266, DDR333, or
DDR400; density: 64 MB, 128 MB, 256 MB, 512 MB, or 1 GB; and
technology: 128 Mb, 256 Mb, or 512 Mb) in DIMM 0 in both Channels A and
B. If additional memory is to be used, install another matched pair of DIMMs
in DIMM 1 in both Channels A and B.

Potential Problems : 1. RAM loose in the slot. Take it out, clean the contacts and reinstall 2. CMOS Battery ( Most probably Battery number is CR 2032 ), just replace it by a new one. 3. Faulty SMPS : Change / get it repaired. Good Luck, Rajesh
