Re: mde

Check your properties at the desktop icon to see if the target goes to the doc and adjust accordingly. If there is no target then make one the quickest way is by going to the folder where the doc is and create a shortcut and drag it to the desktop.

What is the main function of microsoft word?

The most basic function of MS Word is to create a document/file. Once a document has been created, the user may enter data - for example by typing some text. At any point after the document has been created, the user is allowed to save the contents. The document can then be accessed at a later time and modified as necessary. Documents can be printed out at any stage in this process.

I currently have microsoft office professional 2007 trial version which has expired. If I don't want to order it and just go back to my 2003 version can I just cancel the 2007 version? Will it just convert...

If you still have the installation CD for Microsoft Office 2003 and the key that goes with it, you can un-install the Trial version of Office 2007 and install Office 2003. Files saved Office 2007 format are not redable with Office 2003.

To preserve your files (the ones made with Office 2007) you must go through the following procedure:
  1. Open each file with the application that created it (Word, Excel, Powepoint, or what have you)
  2. If it its a Word 2007 file save it in Word2003 format
  3. If it is an Excel 2007 file save it in the Excel 2003 format.
  4. Etc.
This is only necessary if you intend to modify them at some later time.
If you only want to read (not modify) them you can still do that because Microsoft offers a free Word viewers.

Other free software you can use to open files created with Office 2007 is 3. You might lose some formatting but the files will be accessible to you.

If i install office 2007,how do i transfer all my office 2003 data over ?

If you mean that will you be able to open files created with Word 2003 with Word 2007 then you do not need to worry about compatibility.
Just uninstall the Office 2003 and install the Office 2007. You will be able to open old files without any problem.

Hi Ben,

You have 6 people in your family. Are Bob and Fred the only person in your family having coursework? If they are the only ones then all you have to do is create a shared folder for both Bob and Fred. You can password the folder if you like so that only Ben and Fred will be able to access their coursework folders. You can place the shared folders either on the upstairs computer or the downstairs one, it does not really matter. So even when Fred is using the computer upstairs, Bob can still access his own coursework folder by using the computer downstairs. Hope it works for you.

Make sure no office programs are running.
Do a search for and delete it.
Don't worry, this is a file that is automatically created by office if it is not present.
Corruption of this file can cause problems like this.
If you are worried about deleting it, you can rename it to something like normal.old

Microsoft Works Please help

Get new stuff you don't have to look through particularly grotty Half-Price Books (though you could use AbeBooks) to obtain relevant manuals! Linux and OpenOffice can do your job; OpenSolaris and one of Sun's office suites can too. Your machine won't be zombified every time you hit the internet with it this way, too.

Works and Excel differed in several editions. You might not be able to just rightclick on the tab and ask select New Worksheet or Edit/Insert/Worksheet.
