Question about Nintendo DS Lite Console

Lights on bottom screen don't light

While playing my son's DS lite the touch (bottom) screen seemed to go dull as if i had dimmed the light. i tried using the brightness feature but that is not the problem. it seems like there may be several bulbs or LED's iluminating the display and more than half these have stopped working. The light on the top screen is fine. Can anyone help? is this fixable?

Sounds like you need to send it in for repair. I had sent my console to VideoGame911.com and they repaired mine at a great cost and got it back at the end of the week. Give them a try, they are cheaper than a manufacturer. Good luck!

that is exactly what it is there are not many things YOU can do but you can try calling Microsoft, bricking happens when you drop your ds or hit the touch screen to hard or in your case magnets probably rubbed against it

When you boot the Nintendo DS you can change the illumination settings in the main menu.
One the main menu, you will find a sunny symbol in the lower left corner of the screen. Click on that and you should be able to change the level of illumination. If you are also wondering if you can change the brightness during game play, you can't. Games such as Mario 64 DS come with support for brightness change but otherwise you have to do it before game play.
