Re: yellow lines on my screen

Appears that your graphics card might not be seated properly, re-seat it and try again.

Hello and Welcome to Fixya!

Lines running on your screen can probably mean that there is a hardware issue involving your monitor/LCD. In order to separate this, here are some things that you can try :
  • If you're using a desktop PC, remove the video card and enable the onboard video(in BIOS) - if the problem continues, then there's a need to update the video driver or replace the graphics card.
  • Try a known good working monitor, if the problem is not present, then it's clear that the monitor/LCD needs to be repaired or replaced.
  • Boot to BIOS and check if the lines are still there - if it is, then again the problem is attributed to the monitor/LCD.
After identifying the problem, my recommendation is to contact the manufacturer (or reseller) and check for warranty coverage (et. al).

I hope this helps, Thank you for using FixYa.

connect it to a regular monitor - if it looks good your laptop screen is bad.

If the external monitor is bad, then the video hardware in your laptop is bad.

Its a GPU problem.
It can be overcome by doing reflow technique.
You need to do following.
1. Uncover ur PC casing
2. Locate the nVIDIA PCI-E Card.
3. On the card, locate the power supply pin of GPU fan.
4. Remove the pin.
5. Switch on ur PC.
6. Still u may get scrambled display/wavy screen, but wait for 5 minutes.
7. Press reset button on ur PC.
8. Ur PC might work.
9. Switch it off.
10. Connect the power supply pin back as it is.
11. Power on ur PC.
thats all.

Removal of fan power, makes the GPU to get high heat, it a reflow technique.
Remember, not to touch the GPU portion (heat sink), as it may be in higher temperature.
Try this, it works most.

It could have something to do with the graphics card but the lines that show up have me thinking that it has to do with the monitor. The only way to know for sure is to hook up the monitor to another MAC and if you still get lines then you'll know its the monitor. If your still unsure, get the Radeon 1900 graphic cards upgrade kit replaced, if you still get the lines then you'll know its the monitor, if the lines go away then you know its the video card.

Vertical lines on monitor, normally pink

I have had that very same problem before. Unfortunatly it is all bad news. The card is going bad. You will have to replace the card. I wish there was something else I could tell you, but I know with 100% certanty that the card isnt any good. And the reason your other graphics card may not work is due to you not either uninstalling the 7500 drivers before you swapped, or some of the software affiliated with the 7500 were not completly removed during the uninstall process. Try this program to completly remove all dirver files for the 7500.

The icons have purple color only

Couple of things, video card not in correctly either where the monitor plugs in or the card may not be correctly seated in the slot. Bung monitor even

Worst case scenario some of its video ram maybe damaged, I have seen similar issues, such as yellow lines down the screen and the like..

good luck :0

No picture on tv

Move your mouse over to a empty part of the desktop and press the right mouse button. Select properties.

Make sure that your tv is connected to the computer, that it is turned on, and that it is set for line input on that device.

Select the settings tab. You should see this box appear.

Monitor one is your computer monitor. Monitor 2 is your tv. It should be greyed out. If you move the mouse over to 2 and press the right mouse button make sure the attached is checked off. If not do this right now.

You may have to click on monitor two as well and select the advanced button on this screen. Then look in the settings to turn the tv on (this happens with ATI cards, NVidia cards may have a similar setting as well). Once it is turned on and you hit apply the picture should come on the screen. If you check off extend windows desktop onto this monitor, you will only see the desktop without any icons. Make sure that feature is disabled when you use monitor 2 (by default it is).

This should keep you busy to get it to work. Let me know if you need anymore assistance on this.

How to fix horisontal lines on display ( see the picture)? They stronger when system is restarted and then fading but never disappearing. They always stay the same.

horizontal lines can be caused by either a faulty grapchics card or a faulty monitor. try adjusting the screen refresh rate. if you are using a windows xp system goto

start>control panel>display>settings>advanced>monitor

then adjust the screen refresh rate and see if the horizontal lines disappear. if not, then you probably have a faulty graphics card or monitor.
