You can try googling the internet or contacting customer support to see if U can get a replacement battery. Is the battery taking some kind of a charge? If it is taking a charge that lasts a short time, U can get by by checking the players ac in voltage. Example: If it is 9 volts, U can get a 6 d cell battery holder from the internet, and go to batteryspace.com and go into wires and connectors. Get the two prong wire that has an two alligator leads on the other end. You can buy a universal 6V-12V battery pack charger from this site, and get the powerizer 10000 mah rechargeable d cells to boot. U might want to use the .9 Amp setting, or the 1.8 amp setting if yopu are feeling adventurous. The powerizer batteries have sometimes leaked, especially the smaller C size when using this setting(1.8 amp) The site also sells compatible tips that will fit that connector. If the battery cannot take ANY kind of a charge, what kind of battery is it? If it is built in, youre in luck. If it is a clip on detachable type, U have a problem as the cutoff voltage with those type of players is typically higher on the ac in jack since the player isnt recognizing that discharged battery pack is still connected. For that, you could try a 8 d cell battery holder and just use alkalines if you don't want to risk cell reversal with your rechargeables, or just get the 8.4 Volt battery pack that site sells. I also recommend accupower evolution low self discharge rechargeables, found at thomas distributing.com id U have the cash. Good luck, and let me know how it turns out. Hint: the voltage rating of the battery power supply listed on the player may be lower than the AC in jack. Consult your manual. Use the specifications used in the battery listed. A 7.4 lithium ion pack or a 7.2 nimh battery pack will work if it is basically a 9 volt circuit. A 7.4 litium ion battery included with the player would mean you would use 6 D cells inserted in a battery holder hooked to this unit.

There is another thing. If U decide to go with a different brand of rechargeable, some brands may have tops that are a bit short. Some battery holders have a small plastic channel that may prevent proper contact with the positive terminal inside. In this case, use a Sperry battery tester available in hardware stores and bridge the gap with the metal part of the red lead

The user's manual is actually fairly easy -- go to radioshack.com and search for the catalog number "1603910". The only hit you'll get will be the manual.

I'm having no luck with the battery so far, however.
