The belt came off when i was moving recently. it's still in one piece, i just need to put it back on, but i have no idea how it was before it came off and it's not detailed in the manual. is there anyway i can find out how to put it back on myself or do i need to take it in to the shop? any help would be appreciated. thanks.

There should be a label under the hood that shows the pattern and You Tube has lots of videos by brand and year that show the actual process. Process if done correctly is to hold the spring loaded auto belt tension unit back (mine you just insert the head of a 3/8 ratchet and pull it back, move the belt into position and back the tension off, smooth on belt to smooth on pulley and grooved part of belt to groved parts on the other pulley.
Try You Tube first and you will get the idea, easier with a second person to help, I recently did mine alone outside with a temperature of 14 degrees.
If the belt came off for no reason inspect the tension unit.
Could very well be the belt.
When cleaning the brush it is a good idea to add some WD40 at the ends where the plastic pieces are that hold the brush in the vacuum. The brush needs to be able to move freely around the plastic pieces.
Add the WD40 and rotate the plastic pieces around the brush until they move freely.
Reassemble making sure the belt is put in correctly so the brush moves in the right direction.

On the zx2 the cam shafts over the valves have to be viseversa the nuges sould look different on both like one nuge sould be up one and directly across from it should be down make sure when you looking at the front of the engine that there is groves on the right of cam shafts, you should be able to fit a flat bar an a flat piece of metal in there to keep it aligened as you put the belt on as you look at the bottom gear behind the passanger tire there is a incrament on it that mark should be at 12 o clock using the gasket from the oil pan as the starting point sence the oil pan is at a angle make sure the incrament on the gear is at a 90 degree angle from the gasket on the oil pan put the belt on with out any thing moveing its easier to put the timeing belt on with it being on the bottom gear first and then puting it on the top two with out moving the cams or the bottom gear once on remove the metal piece holding the shafts in place and put every thing back together . Note: if you have issues with the timingbelt walking off the gears, then you may have a worn or tapered lower timinggear. The early engines had a two-piece design that was prone to this type of failure.
if the belt is more then 6 months old or more, then the belt will have to be replaced reguardless of the way it lookes. belts can stretch over time and when you put the machine on the carpet the friction causes the brush to stop because the belt has stretched. i would try this first. hope this helps
Boy I would be livid if it were my saw. I had a similar problem with a very old marine engine I resrored. A casting was damaged and not avalabled so I went to a machine shop who sent it or to be welded and than the shop tooled it. You can give it a try if you can't find the part. Good luck.
I have put belts on many vehicles, and if you have purchased the right one it should explain itself with some concentration. Most belts have a ribbed side and a smooth side. if the pully wheel is meant to accept the ribbed side it will also be ribbed. If it is meant to accept the smooth side it will be smooth (possibley with a ridge on each side to keep it centered) Just start by putting the ridges side on one pully and move the belt around each successive pully until you are left with the alternator as the last one. Usually the alternator is the one piece that can be adjusted in so that you can get the belt on and then moved back out for tightness.
See if the motor has adjustment , ie a slotted fixing hole, slacken the fixing bolts slightly and motor may move up and down to give adjustment, put the belt on and then put some tension on the belt once fitted by moving the motor down and tightening the motor bolts at the same time.
Or if no adjustment put the belt on the motor spindle first and then the drum by turning the drum as the belt is eased onto it.
