Question about HP OfficeJet D125xi InkJet Printer

Officejet d125xi "scanner failure"

Just bought this used and I have tried the following steps to try and diagnose this problem. If anyone has any ideas please let me know what else I can try? I have the tools to test sensors or electrical devices also. I have not yet pulled the entire machine apart to look at all boards to check for burns and blowouts, sounds like a hardware problem to me. I was able to perform a "scan to" function once when initially hooked up to PC and it worked flawlessly, now it just keeps getting the "scanner failure" error. I am able to print only in black ink while the error is blinking(new cartridges, but not able to align or clean printheads while flashing error, it appears before it finishes tasks). Any suggestions would be a great help. 1: Performed semi and full reset in wall socket and on power bar, multiple times. 2: Used hair dryer on light bulbs while powering on (yes lights are on and it is 70-90 degrees ambient anyways). 3:Removed plastic cover from above mirrors (mirrors appear to be clean, no film noticed on front or rear mirror, not seen any other mirrors) 3: Has new ink cartridges, but will not print color, only black. (dont see how this will affect the scanner problem, probably printer heads are dirty/dried, will soak them after I find scanner error problem), have tried cleaning printheads or aligning them and get error before they can finsh. Any suggestions? Thanks for reading

How do I solve the "scanner failure power off and on again" message for an h.p. 6110 officjet all-in-one printer/scanner/fax?

Hi Paul,

Scanner Failure usually results in Hardware Failure. However there is one step you can try. Try connecting the printer directly to wall outlet or any other power outlet and the issue should be resolved.

Sean

My HP Photosmart C5240 will print from computer but will not scan or make copies.

Is there any error message displayed on the control panel of the printer just like one of the following:
Scanner failure, power off and on
Scanner System Failure
Scanner failed, cannot make copies or fax
Scanner failure. Unable to scan, copy, or send a fax
Scanner failure, cycle power

You may want to try following these steps:
1. Check if the scanner light does turn on when you initiated the scanning process, if not you need to reset the product.
2. Try using your other electrical outlet because your AVR or Surge Extension may not be providing enough voltage for the printer.
3. Try using dirty cycle, meaning you need to directly cut the power of your printer by pulling of the power cord from the rear side of your printer and wait for about 30 seconds before inserting again and turn it on.

If all these steps do not improve your printer functionality, you may want to call the HP online help and ask for replacement.

Here are a few things to try: 1. Remove and then reinstall the ink cartridges 2. Clean the ink nozzles because they may be clogged which can be done manually or sometimes using the printer control panel like so: Open the print or fax window > right click on ink jet printer icon > select Properties > on the general tab click printing preferences > click services tab > click clean the print cartridge. If you have this option it will automatically clean the print nozzles, if not you will have to do it manually (check your documentation if you still have it for details on how to do this). Take cu-tips and remove the ink cartridges > dip the cu-tips in distilled water (not tap water) and squeeze any excess water out of the cu tip > Hold ink cartridge so that the nozzle plate faces up and use the swab to wipe clean the area around the nozzle plate > Hold cartridge up to light to make sure all dust, dirt, dried ink, or cotton fibers are not left behind > Dry them off and replace into printer and print a test page. 3. Try different settings for the print quality to see if any changes occur. 4. Turn the printer on and leave it on for about 30 minutes to warm up to loosen or melt any dried ink that may have blocked the nozzles. If this does not work there may be more serious problems that will require a qualified technician to deal with. Hope this helps and let me know if you need further assistance.

Office Jet K60xi Scanner Failure

Try HP's web site suggestions first.
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c01077492&cc=us&lc=en&dlc=en&product=61736

If your sacnner still fails to function, uninstall everything for the Officejet through add/remove in control panel. (Power off printer before uninstalling).
Go to Hp's web site. http://welcome.hp.com/country/us/en/welcome.html#Support
Step 1. Click, Download drivers and software (and firmware).
Go to step 2. For product, type in Officejet k60xi .
Power on your printer. (Wait for printer to fully power on).
Click, Start Detection>> button.
Allow HP to scan your system & install the latest software.
Follow the on scren instructions. (When finished, restart your PC). Test your scanner by scanning something.
If your scanner still fails to scan, you may be missing basic HP files loaceted in windows system & windows system32 folders.
(These missing files were not installed during your install of windows). Not your fault.

HP officeJet K series scanner failure power off and on again

Hi.

The "Scanner System Failure" error occurs if the scanner bulb is not heating to the correct temperature or there is some other issue with the scanner hardware

Please follow the below given instructions to resolve the issue.

Please remove the All-in-One Printer from the Power Surge Protector and plug it directly into a wall Power outlet, as the surge protector may not provide enough power to printer.

Please perform the step given below to power cycle the unit after removing the print cartridges from the printer:

1. Verify that the unit is switched on. Unplug the all-in-one from power and disconnect the USB cable from the computer.
2. Wait 30 seconds.
3. Plug in the power only
4. Repeat steps 2-3 two more times.
5. On the third time after plugging the unit into power, reconnect the USB cable from the all-in-one to your computer.

Reset the All-in-One to the factory default settings by using these instructions:

1. Unplug the power cable from printer when the printer is powered on and wait for 20 seconds.

2. Then, press and hold # and 6 while plugging in the power cord.

Continue holding until it displays Semi Full Reset message in the front panel of the All-in-One.

Note:
A semi-full reset will do the following:
The user settings to the factory defaults, Language and country settings on some models, Fax logs, Fax headers, Fax speed dial information.
Hope, this solution would work for you.

Regards,
Lawrence

D125xi problem

Hi if you open the left part of the front cover, after you released the the top (scanner) to lift off, you will be able to find a batterie. Remove the batterie and try again. All should be done when the unit is powered off and disconnected from USB. BR Karlh.
