Question about Toshiba TDP P5 Multimedia Projector

Toshiba TDP-P5 projector

The projector is hooked to a PC in a conference room. It starts up and gets to where we see what we want to see, but then after about 5 minutes it shuts down and does that everytime. Appreciate any help...... thanks

Possibky is overheating... I would put a fan on it and see if the time-to-fail changes,

Make sure filters are cleaned. Use a vacuum so you don't spread dust around inside your projector. Make sure the projector can "breathe"; has room around it.

hook it up with the USB cable so that you can hook up the Projector to your network. then you will be able to find it.

You are correct with the diagnosis. If the power supply is OK then you should hear the high voltage that strikes the lamp giving a sharp 'crack' noise like a spark in the spark plug of a car as it tries to ignite the lamp. If you can't hear it, then the lamp may be OK and the Ballast board is faulty

Try pushing the source/select button to make the projector look for a source. It is the button that looks like a bent arrow right in the middle of the 4 arrow buttons.

First check your video with ANOTHER external monitor. It may be the video output of the computer turns off (It often comes from a different driver than the main computer screen). This would then be a software problem...

My projector makes a really annoying noise

It is also possible that the bearing is going bad on the fan. I'd look into getting a replacement fan if that's the case. It is probably cheaper than a replacement bulb that would be needed if the fan failed entirely.

please start your computer first and then the projector- use function key with f4 or f6 or f7 or f5-and select computer from input of the projector.
