The refrigerator is freezing, I reset and locked the temperatures at a higher temperature and its still freezing. It is a Kenmore Elite model # 74209401

I am having trouble finding a manual, but some have a Child Lock on the display to stop little fingers playing with settings.

how old is your kenmore? sounds like a bad temperature gauge?

The temperature control thermostat, alson known as the colds control thermostat has gone bad and basically isn't converting electrical/temperature signal properly and needs to be replaced.

The first thing to check is the overall internal refrigerator temperature. The proper temperature should be between 35 and 42 degrees. Here are some things to try:-

If your refrigerator temperature is closer to 35 degrees, try turning the temperature up slightly.

If you find that the temperature varies a lot from the top shelf to the bottom (where it is coldest), try putting produce and other sensitive products on a higher shelf.

If the temperature is too low and you can't make it warmer by adjusting the thermostat, you probably have a defective thermostat. If so, you need to replace it, because they cannot be repaired. Other possible problems are a leak in the sealed (refrigerant) system, cold air migration (in side-by-side models) or a defective air damper. These problems can be quite difficult to locate and correct, we recommend you contact a qualified appliance repair technician.

Which model Kenmore Elite refrigerator do you have? If you have one of the older manual models, the thermostat is located inside the fridge side. If you have a newer model with digital controls you need to press and hold the the ON/OFF button for 2 seconds until the digital displays for temperature for the Freezer and Refrigerator lights. The Up/Down arrows allows you to adjust the temperature. If you are still having problems, write back. -- SWT

the higher the number the colder it gets...

I'm not trying to be a smart ***,but a lower temperature setting would make it colder.Try using a higher temperature setting.If this was just a poor choice of words you may need to replace your thermostat.

may be is the board or or refrigerator door is (ajar)

I have this problem also my control panel is not working. It has an Er If on the panel.

35-37'Celsius is very warm. room temperature is around 19-23'c idealy
