Question about ASUS P5S800-VM Motherboard

Processor compatibility- ASUS P5S800-VM

Can anyone tell me whether this motherboard will take a Socket 775 Core 2 Duo 4300 (800MHz FSB) processor? The board specifications state that it has a maximum processor FSB of 800MHz and will support processors to 3.6GHz and beyond, but I'm not sure if this includes dual core. Please help.

Re: Processor compatibility- ASUS P5S800-VM

G'Day! I'd say no to your question.

The P5S800VM-MX has a PCG (electrical compatability) of 04a/b whereas a Core 2 Duo needs a m/board of PCG 06.

You have to look for a CPU 4/Celeron 256/512/1m cache 800/533 fsb PCG 04a/b

Cheers! NicK

Does dual core processor support Foxconn P9657AA-8EKRS2H mother board

The Foxconn P9657AA-8EKRS2H motherboard has a LGA 775 Socket. It will support Intel Core 2 Quad, Core 2 Extreme, and Core 2 Duo processors with an FSB of 1066 (800MHz). Thus is should support the dual core 775 processors. (Some Pentium 4, Pentium D and Celeron D CPUs may also be compatible with the board.)

I hope this helps.

Is the ms 6540 motherboard compatible with the asus p5s800-vm

what u mean compatible? if u mean u want to change your ms 6540 to Asus P5S800-VM, then i tell u it cannot be done.
first thing that u look when to change mainboard is SOCKET type... ms 6540 have socket type 478 and asus p5s800-vm have socket type LGA775. thats mean your old processor cannot be use in asus. socket 478 is older than LGA775.
So if u want to change your mainboard for ASUS P5S800-vm, then u need to change your processor to... about RAM socket and VGA socket, ms 6540 have same type with ASUS P5S800 (DDR400) so u dont need to change your RAM and VGA (if u use external VGA)
hope this useful, regards.

I have an ASUS P5S800-VM Motherboard socket LGA775

To answer your question, yes it's possible.

I'm sure you wouldn't like it if I left it at that, so I'll explain a bit more.

It's about as simple as this: The processor you want to install into the motherboard is for an LGA 775 mobo such as yourself. Therefore, it should have no problems when you put it in.

Hope I was of assistance.
