ESPON Stylus Photo R200 Ink Status Problem

I have a problem with my Printer. Iv only used black ink. I ********** use black only, and after using all of my black ink, all my other colours seemed to become lowered. I want to just buy black ink only, but I don't know why the other colours get used up even tho iv never used the ink.
Why does all the other colours get used up?

Hi,

The epson like many other brands actually uses a small amount of the coloured ink in order to give the black print a more polished look.

You must use your printers properties page to set printing mode to Greyscale if you don't want it to use the colours.

To do this go into your control panel, open the printers icon, and select your printer, right-click on it and select Properties from the grey menu.

You will have to look through the pages and find the setting or check box for Grayscale. When you find it, select it, then click ok at the bottom of the page. This will stop the printer from using coloured inks to tone the black print.

Hope this helps FixYa,

Chris

My espson R200 won't print black even though it is full :s

ESP-son? EPSN-Sports-Online?

Use the EPSON software to run a "print-head-cleaning" cycle to try to "unclog" the path that the ink takes from the ink-cartridge, through the "jets" onto the paper.

Hi My Epson Stylus R200 print is nearly unreadable. The status monitor says status is OK and the nozzle check is fine

Ensure the nozzle check has 6 colours if it doesn't you will need to try head cleaning. you may also need to align the print head. All this can be found in the same place as the option for nozzle check.

If that is ok try a different paper type, ensure you are using relativly fresh ink.

Epson stylus photo R200 status monitor in Windows 7 is'nt highlighted ink is low can't tell which ones

Uninstall the current driver and Status Monitor, once uninstalled connect and power the printer on to install the Windows 7 In box driver. If that does not work then you can tell which cartridges need replacing using the printer itself. Lift the lid and press the red ink button once. The carriage will move to the left and stop by a pointer. This will point to the cartridge that needs replacing. Repeat until it is in the change and then change the indicated cartridge/s and then press again to complete the change.

Epson Stylus Photo R200 - print with black ink only

Nope.....

Epson will not print unless all carts have ink in them to some degree. If the light is on for any reason, printing will be halted.

For future reference, once the color carts have been replaced, you can set the printing defaults to print in either gray scale or BW only. Keep in mind that Epson printers tend to mess up if you don't use the ink at least once a week.

Epson Stylus Photo R200 and R320 Status monitor in Vista

For the Epson R200 here's how I got it to work with Vista Business 32bit ...

#1 Disable AV software

#2 Open the CD for the printer software

#3 Find the launcher, right-click it and select Properties, then select the Compatibility tab

#4 Choose XP SP2 compatibility mode and Run As Administrator, then click OK.

#5 Double-click the launcher to start the program, select Custom then then choose only the Driver and Status Monitor applications.

Worked for me, hopefully will do too for you. :o)

Printer= Epson stylus Photo R200=will not print in black

The printer is designed so that you have to have ink in all the ink cartridges. They sell more ink this way. I have the same printer and investigated this a few years ago. there is no work around. Peter
