Pioneer VSX-81TXV Receiver Logo

HDMI Compatibility I am utilizing the Pioneer VSX-81TXV Receiver to switch audio/video through to a Sharp 46" LCD Display. I am utilizing a Toshiba D-6000 Upconverting DVD Player on HDMI input 1. When viewing the source on the HDMI input of the Sharp the image cycles on and off at the LCD and the audio mode on the front of the Pioneer cycles between DD and Stereo simultaneously with the TV cycle. It seems to me that there is a compatibility issue between the Pioneer and the DVD player. If I send the signal from the DVD directly to the LCD Panel around the Pioneer I have no problem. The problem only presents itself when using the Pioneer to switch the HDMI 1/2 inputs through to the LCD.

I have the same issue with a Pioneer VSX-918-K receiver, toshiba upconverting DVD and Samsung LNT-4661F LCD TV. Works OK from DVD direct to TV but not through the receiver.

Would be nice to know which components aren't talking nice.

It sounds to me like you have a HDMI Control issue. It sounds like the DVD player wants to control the receiver. Try turning off hdmi control on the TV, reciever, and the dvd player in their setup menus.

Let me know if this helped,

My Pioneer Receiver VSX-519V has a blinking HDMI light and won't show video.

You guys mentioned the reset via the front panel, and I tried that with this very same issue on my VSX-822-k and it worked!
thought I would post the instructions for anyone else that lands here:
Reset the main unit if the receiver is generally not operating correctly. Switch the receiver into standby mode. Hold down the "BAND" button while pressing the "STANDYBY/ON" button for about two seconds. When "Reset?" appears in the display window, press the "AUTO SURROUND/ STREAM DIRECT" button. "OK?" appears in the display window. Press "STEREO/A.L.C." to confirm. "OK" appears in the window. The system has been reset.

Power sub woofer is not working on my pioneer vsx-81txv everything is working all the speakers except the power sub connection at the back all i can hear is the hissing sound when i try to connect the sub...

Hissing? How loud? A sub isn't even capable of making high frequency sounds at normal volumes.

The Pioneer manual would tell you how to enable and test the subwoofer output.

No picture through Pioneer VSX 818V. Hi I have connected a blueray th the hdmi input and the tv to the hdmi, I have sound but no picture or on screen display?

Your receiver has 2 HDMI in with one HDMI out, 3 Component in and one out, and two difital optical in. If the bluray player has HDMI out this woukd be your best bet because HDMI carries the audio and video. If it has Component out, you would have to provde sound through the digital optical. Not knowing what blueray player or kind of tv you have, it's hard to advise so I may be over explaining. Anyway, we've touched on the bluray player to receiver. Out of your three HDMI slots on your receiver only one is HDMI out so make sure you're in the right one. Idaelly you have a DVD/blueray in on your receiver so on your receiver you would select "DVD" when playing. If your hook up is correct you may have to try another HDMI cable to test.

I just bought a vsx-1019ah receiver. I connected

Check if your KuroLink is on or off. There are a lot of problems that users have been having with the KuroLink on. Since you have a Pioneer display, KuroLink might help in switching both the receiver and the display on and off together, but my advice to you would be play around with the settings (in your case, especially KuroLink). Also remember, the KuroLink is on by default i.e. if you've never changed this setting, it probably is on.
Hope this solution works, else check out the Official Thread on Pioneer VSX 1019 AH-K on avsforum. There are a lot of helpful people out there.

I have a motorolla DSR505 sattelite receiver that I want to connect to my Pioneer VSX-1019AH-K audio/video receiver. The sattelite receiver has a DVI output jack so I have a DVI to HDMI cable to connect it...

The DVI output usually transmits only video (I'm almost 90% sure about this). It would be better if you did not use the DVI to HDMI cable. Receivers and displays can be very picky when it comes to using HDMI. Your Motorola DSR505 has other output options on its rear. I would suggest using the Component out for video (the 3 outputs colored green, blue and red) and either an optical or coaxial for the audio. The Pioneer VSX 1019 AH-K has the required inputs. Of course, you would require new component and coaxial/optical cables to do the job.
Hope this helps. If you're still in a tangle, you can consult the Official Thread on the Pioneer VSX 1019 AH-K on avsforum. There are a lot of helpful people out there.

NEW WITH LCD TV

This pioneer does not support HDMI, so for the best resolution you have to use video the component inputs and output, those are marked as Y (green), Pr (red) and Pb (Blue) and remember, this signals are only for video so you need to hook up the audio too.

Breaks in audio

The receiver is not locking on the digital audio on the HDMI. Try a different cable or sat box if you use one. Use a digital audio cable instead of the HDMI to the reveiver. HDMI is full of issues.
